Ronald Nuno Obituary

Ronald James Nuno
03/14/1938 - 07/26/2024
Ronald James Nuno, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2024. Born on March 14, 1938, in San Francisco to Gustavo and Bessie Nuno, Ron attended Polytechnic High School, graduating in 1956, and enjoyed a long career at PG&E, retiring in 1998.
Ron met the love of his life, Ingrid, in 1963. They married in 1965 and shared nearly 60 years filled with love, travel, and adventure. Their journeys took them around the world, including frequent visits to Ingrid's family and friends in Germany, where Ron was cherished by Ingrid's mom, "Mutti" Spahr.
Known for his distinctive style, Ron stood out in any crowd. He had a keen and dry sense of humor, with a quiet wit that endeared him to many. A dedicated friend, he maintained lifelong relationships and was a respected member of the Native Sons of the Golden West. His delight in finding the perfect present for a loved one was unmatched, and he loved bringing back treasures from his travels to give as gifts. Ron was a man of exceptional character. His life exemplified generosity, kindness, and quiet, enduring strength.
Ron developed a deep appreciation for his Mexican heritage, reflected in the art and music that filled their home. He could often be found listening to Mexican music while tending to his beautiful garden. Ron's love for cars and all things German led him to order a Porsche directly from Germany, which, like everything he owned, he maintained in pristine condition.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid; his sister Sandra (Joseph) Hirschmann; his brother Michael (Lori) Nuno; and his sister Cheryl (Ted) Vrakas. He will be dearly missed by a large extended family and many, many friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Ron's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his memory.

From the first time I met Ron, I considered him a true friend, someone who always shared his positive and upbeat attitude and made each time we spoke or hung out a memorable experience. He called me "Uncle Pete" and I called him "Uncle Ron". It brings a tear to my eye to remember all the good times and laughs we shared during 30 years of friendship. I will miss him very much and wish Ingrid all the best as she overcomes this terrible loss. Rest in Peace, Ron. You were one of the best.

Although we all suspected and somehow knew for some time that Ron was no longer really well - he seemed immortal. Ron was always an optimist and a thoroughly positive person ... You spoke to him, even if only on the phone, and he spread an unclouded confidence: Life is wonderful! That's how you were, Ron! Simply wonderful. I'll miss you, Ron. Rest in peace!
And of course I wish you in particular, dear Ingrid, lots of strength for your exciting future - as positive and untroubled as possible, as Ron loved and probably wished us all forever.
You are always very welcome, Ingrid!
I don't think we can all make Ron any happier than to always be as positive as he was.
Best wishes Florian
