November 2, 1962 – May 2, 2016
The life of Steven Michael Nixon ended peacefully on May 2, 2016 due to a pulmonary embolism. Born in Kentfield, California, he lived most of his childhood in Sacramento. However, his real joy was his time at the family cabin in Lake Tahoe. After graduating from Jesuit High School in Sacramento, he entered the University of California and graduated in 1985. Steve was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. He taught English in Osaka, Japan for two years, returning to live in San Francisco. Steve loved Cal and never wanted to be far away from Berkeley. After receiving a Master's Degree from St. Mary's College, Steve and his family moved to Orinda. He then embarked on a career in education, as a teacher and later as an administrator. His passion was always his students, although he also connected with teachers and parents in a manner few could duplicate. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I am so sad to find out Steve's passing.. I knew him from when he lived in Sacramento, did a political internship at the White House! Steve and I were in a serious relationship in our mid 20's...We hadn't been in touch since he was a History teacher in San Franciso......I am so sad and heartbroken to find out of his passing! Steve was the most funny, extremely intelligent man, not to mention super handsome, and extremely kind to everyone! Blessings to his Brother, parents, etc..He will be always in my prayers.

Steve and I attended Jesuit and then he took his road and I took mine. Sadly, our paths never crossed again. If memories are all that really have value, then I can say that I remembered him. I am thankful for the memories and hope that his family will find my condolences sincere during this time.
