Tamara Stevens Obituary

Tamara Jean Stevens Award winning floral designer Tamara Jean Stevens, C.C.F. passed away peacefully in the company of her loved ones on February 13, 2012 in San Francisco. Her artistic talent in creating beautiful and highly original floral pieces was well known and highly appreciated. She found her calling when asked to arrange the floral table decorations in the West Sonoma County restaurant where she worked when a teenager. Tammy was raised in San Diego, New York and Sebastopol but lived and worked in San Francisco for the past 23 years. She was a five-year participant in the Bouquets to Art event at San Francisco's de Young museum. Her awards included: 3rd place at C.S.F.A. Top Ten Design Competition 2005, Top Ten Honors in 2004 and 3rd place in Teleflora's Nor Cal/Nevada Annual Competition 2005 as well as many others at smaller competitions around the San Francisco Bay area. Tammy was born August 9, 1968, in Long Beach CA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Tye Stevens and her grandmother, Iris Plant Tye. She is survived by her partner, Dyami Serna, his parents, Patrick and Kim Serna, sisters Rebecca Serna all of Fairfield, CA, and Andrea (Josh) Pool of Big Bear, CA. Tamara's family includes her sister, Brenda (Nick) Masi of Port St. Lucy, FL, her grandparents, Russell and Ruthann Tye of Cazadero, CA, her aunts, Sherrill (Norman) Evans of Astoria, OR, and Melissa (Bill) Ballowe of Santa Fe, NM, and uncles Russell J. Tye of Carnation, WA and John Friis of Rio Nido, CA, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services to honor Tammy's life will be held during the coming months and will be announced.
