Thomas Lehmkuhl Obituary

Thomas Francis Lehmkuhl

February 8, 1958 - April 22, 2017

Tom Lehmkuhl passed away suddenly on Saturday. Everyone loved him and will deeply miss his gentle nature, kindness and sense of humor. He was born to the late Bettye & Herman Lehmkuhl and raised in Millbrae, attended St. Dunstan School, graduated Capuchino High School and earned a degree at College of San Mateo. He worked faithfully in the grocery business for Draeger's Market the last 10 years and before that, Cala Foods for 27 years.
Survived by Dede, the love of his life, married 29 years; devoted daughter Megan; sisters Catherine Chrisman (Dale) of Pahrump, NV & Shirley Sarracino (Kelly) of South S.F.; nephew Tony Sarracino (Suzie); grandniece Lily of Santa Clara; and nieces Amy Buckwalter of N. Las Vegas & Elizabeth Sarracino-Vilanova (Rob) of Pacifica.
Tom enjoyed his annual backpacking in the Sierras, as well as golfing, reading, listening to his extensive music collection, being with friends and extended family and especially being with Dede and Megan. The trio are longtime enthusiastic Giants fans and went on their first trip to Europe last summer, seeing Tom's countries of heritage in Germany and Ireland and also visiting the Netherlands. We are forever grateful for Tom's loving presence in our lives.
Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 29th at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 1839 Arroyo Ave., San Carlos, CA. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to either Junior Giants baseball or Second Harvest Food Bank.

Tom, it's been almost a year since you died, but you remain alive in memories, in spirit...your spirit...which I feel closeby often. The life you shared with Dede, your wife, our daughter, brought Dick and me assurance that goodness prevails. Your legacy is smiles, kindness, generosity, love, still alive in all who knew you, most especially in your daughter, our granddaughter, Megan, who reminds us of you so much. Thanks for being you. GO GIANTS, GO 49ers

I just had a friend of mine convert an old VHS tape to DVD of my surprise 30th birthday party. Tommy and DeDe were there at my parent's home in Stockton. My 59th birthday just passed a month ago and I usually would get a call from Tom around that time every year. You are still alive in my memories and missed Tom!

I have only recently learned of Thomas's passing. I did not know this man, but I knew the Wagner family well, having done a lot of growing up in that household and having been close to Dede in our younger years. By association, although I never met him, I know that Tom must've been a man of extraordinary quality. I offer my sincere condolences and wish the entire Wagner family, and especially Dede and Megan, comfort and the smoothest possible path forward during this challenging time. All the best to you all.

My dear son-in-law, Tom--how I miss you already. However, I feel you nearby, through your wife--our daughter,Dede;and through your daughter--our granddaughter, Megan. I also feel you because I've known and loved you since 1986. Rest easy, as you lived, bringing peace and love to us all. You will always be in my heart.

I, too, have been a long time neighbor of the family. Tom was so dedicated to DeDe and Megan. Whenever I would see him, I always got a smile and a wave. In a time when people seem way caught up in themselves, Tom was the opposite. I loved seeing the family's excitement on opening day of the Giants. I pray that those who knew him can find peace in knowing that he is now in the loving arms of God.

We are sending love and hugs to Dede and Megan. We didn't get to see Tom very often, but when we were together we found Tom to be a loving, devoted husband and father. Bob totally enjoyed playing golf with Tom when we were visiting Dede's Mom and Dad. We wish we could have spent more time with him in Maine.

Tom was my neighbor and was one of those guys who always had a smile and a wave for you. He was quiet and likeable. A great guy to live next to for all these years. Tom and DeDe were there for my wife and I after we lost our son to suicide always with a comforting voice or smile when needed. Tom was one of the old-timers here at 707 Old County Road and he will be missed. God Bless You Tom and God be with your family at this time of sorrow.
