Thomas Ocheltree Obituary

Thomas (T.R.), Alexandra and MacKenzie Ocheltree
09/19/1968 - 10/05/2025
Thomas Russell Ocheltree, Alexandra Grace Ocheltree and MacKenzie Louann Ocheltree left this earth in early October, 2025. They departed way too soon and will be forever in our hearts.
Thomas Russell (T.R.) Ocheltree was born in Napa, CA September 19th, 1968. He grew up in Napa the youngest of six children. He was a very beloved member of our family who had many life long friends. Above all he was a wonderful, kind and attentive father to his beloved daughters, Alex and MacKenzie.
Alexandra Grace Ocheltree was born June 3, 2013 in San Francisco. She was a kind, sweet young lady who loved school, arts and crafts and crochet. She attended A. P. Giannini Middle School in San Francisco.
MacKenzie Louann Ochetree was born on March 8, 2016 in San Francisco. She loved playing with friends and her beloved puppy, Mango. She attended Sunset Elementary School in San Francisco.
They are survived by T.R.'s mother and Alex and MacKenzie's grandmother, Lou Ann Ocheltree. Additional survivors include brother Bob Ocheltree (Charise Ocheltree), sister Ann Kading (Kent Kading), sister Sue Sarka (Greg Sarka), sister Patty Finney (Gary Finney), nine nieces and nephews and three great nephews and one great neice. T. R. is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Ocheltree and father, James (Jim) Ocheltree.
T. R.'s family wishes to thank the SFPD and coroner's office for their difficult work and support of our family. We also wish to thank the family members and wonderful circle of friends who have come to our aid. Thank you to Graham-Hitch Memorial Center.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on a date, time and place to be determined.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family wishes that donations be made to the girls school's or your local domestic violence prevention organization.

I was not that close with Alex but when I was around her she was always smiling. Her joy felt like it always radiated through the school! Rest in peace sweet girl.

We are missing our cherished, longtime and close friend TR and his smart, beautiful girls every day. Our hearts are broken over this tragic act of domestic violence that took TR, Alex and Mack far too soon. The laughter, joy and friendship we shared will remain with us forever.

To honor TR and his girls, we made a donation to Rainbow Services, Ltd., a DV organization in Southern California that provides safety, shelter, healing and hope to survivors of DV, where Laura serves as the organization's CEO.

To the family of Mr. Thomas Ocheltree,

I did not know the family, but wanted to convey my sincere sympathy on this heartbreaking tragedy. I cannot fathom the loss of these beautiful children and their dad.

May you find the strength to accept this loss. I'm so very sorry. I also pray that Alexandra and MacKenzie's classmates and friends can cope with their grief.

My daughter was friends with Alex since Kindergarten. Same schools. Many playdates and birthday parties spent together. Alex had such a sweet soul and was always so appreciative. Beautiful person - inside and out.

Thank you, Alex, for being such a great friend to Z. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

Prayers for the Ocheltree family for this unspeakable loss.

My son was in the same grade with Alex at Sunset and APG. He recently shared with me that she was a kind person. And his memories of Mackenzie were that of a vivacious and sweet little sister to Alex. Our deepest sympathies.

In almost 40 years with TR, I knew him to be one of the happiest and gentlest men I have ever known. He shared that joy with everyone he met, not asking for anything in return. Never more so than with his girls...who loved him so naturally. His huge bear hugs wrapped around them gave safety and comfort. I will miss him terribly, I can feel the huge void every time i think of him.

My heart is broken for the Ocheltree family. T.R. was my friend, my workmate and my roommate for many years while I lived in SF. He was very loved by all of us. We had so many great times together. I'm grateful to have shared those young days with him. I'm so sorry for this terrible loss.

Rest with the angels where only beauty surrounds you. The people who loved you will remember you not for how you left but will instead only remember everything extraordinary that you brought into their lives. Fly free

There are no words to soothe this tragic event! TR was a fun, loving, kind of guy and I am sure his girls were the same. Thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ocheltree family! May time bring peace!
