Walter Ruxton Obituary

Walter (Walt) Alexander Ruxton
April 22, 1930 - April 24, 2022
Walt Ruxton, 92, loving husband, father, brother, grand-father, great grandfather, passed peacefully on April 24, 2022, with family at his side. Walt was born at Fabiola Hospital in Oakland, CA on April 22, 1930 to Muriel Cozens Ruxton and Alexander Ruxton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Healy Ruxton.
Walt was a resident of Piedmont for over 75 years. He attended Piedmont schools, was an Alumnus of UC Berkeley, member of Zeta Psi Fraternity and served in the United States Air Force. He loved his country and was a true believer in the promise of America, as the son of immigrants who worked hard to achieve the American dream.
Walt was an executive in the Ruxton family business, Pacific Pumping Company, which became one of the largest pump manufacturers in the country. PACO pumps were used in the construction of both the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, the Kaiser Center, the Transbay Tube and Marine World.
Walt's hobbies were fitness and travel. His passion was his family. After retirement Walt and Barb travelled extensively and spent time at their Carmel cottage. He spent most summers at the Sonoma County family ranch surrounded by his immediate and extended family.
Walt will always be remembered as a loving family man, loyal friend and true gentleman. Family was the the center of his life and the simplest pleasures in life brought him the greatest joy.
Walt is survived by his three daughters, Karen Ruxton Barbieri (Dean), Linda Ruxton Taylor (Bruce) and Dana Ruxton Rotticci (John) as well as his sisters Shirley Ruxton Soper, Patricia Ruxton Hobson (Doug) and his sister-in-law Ann Healy, ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Our "Papa" is truly missed and forever in our hearts.
A private family celebration of life was held in May.
