Walter Morris Thomas

Walter Morris Thomas, was born Friday the 13th of June, 1930 and passed away on October 27, 2018; a proud San Francisco Native. Born during the depression, he is predeceased by his brother Robert and his loving sister Virginia May.

Walt leaves behind the love of his life, wife Jan Barron of 26 years. Loving brother-in-law to Judi Pappas, Jim Pappas and Bonnie Wilson. Uncle and "Great One" to Jan Talbert, Diane (Roger) Talbert, Stephanie (Hans) Drexler, Jason (Jana) Pappas, Michael ( Rachel) Pappas, Christine (Neil) Caynan. Cherished Grand Uncle to Joanna, Jake, Hannah, Samantha, Caleb, Allison, Chloe, Lucas, Cameron, and Sydney. And extremely proud of his Sean Devin.

Walt grew up in San Francisco's Richmond district, attended George Washington High School and Skyline College. Walt was a very proud American who served his Country in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1951 and the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, on the front lines in the Korean War. After the war he had a few jobs before beginning his 34 year career with P.G. & E.

Walt was an avid golfer, enjoyed his childhood summers in Napa, a 49er fan, sailing on S.F bay, fishing, dealing craps, playing cards, crossword puzzles, a voracious reader, and a love of a good Merlot. Walt was a man's man, extremely kind, loved to share his knowledge, a witty sense of humor with a million jokes & puns, and wonderful stories. Walt & Jan loved their Friday date nights, travel, especially their trips to Ireland, to his roots of Scotland, a cruise to Alaska, but Walt's Love of Maui is where his heart was. He loved showing off his Maui tattoo and truly embraced the Aloha spirit.

Walt was so blessed with so many wonderful friendships and his loss is profoundly felt. His greatest pleasure was his loving family.

All of Walt's friends and loved ones may visit on Thursday at 10am at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City and are invited to attend his Military Funeral also on Thursday at 11:30am at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma.
