William Loren McElfresh Jr

William Loren McElfresh Jr, a longtime resident of San Francisco, California passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 25th, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill graduated from the University of Kansas in 1968 where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He received a graduate degree in business from Pepperdine University.

(now Northrop Grumman.) Following that, Bill worked with International Aircraft Support Inc. near San Francisco. Several years later he joined Willis Lease Finance Corp specializing in leasing commercial aircraft engines worldwide. He traveled extensively internationally and built lifelong relationships with friends from England, Paris, Singapore and elsewhere. He was an active member of the Pacific Region Ferrari Club where he served on the Board for 5 years and as President of the Club in 2008.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie Robinson McElfresh; sister Leslie McElfresh Schweitzer and nephew, William H Schweitzer, both of Alexandria, Virginia; and nephew, Arthur H Schweitzer III of Austin Texas; and a host of friends and colleagues from all over the world with whom he kept in close contact over the years. Bill and I both worked at TRW and became close friends when we both worked in Inglewood (77-80). I am ashamed to say that I just today learned of his passing. His smile and laugh will be remembered. He won the toy contest :) RIP, buddy...

I recall the times in the `70´s when he was living in the Marina in LA, where I had a 32 ft sailboat.

We used to go out for a late afternoon sail to Malibu and returning to the marina with a following wind.

Upon return we always had an our adult beverages and at times he grilled on the outside balcony which overlooked a basin of boats.

Simple times with fantastic memories.

Bill will always have a place in my heart and my great memories file.

I miss his infectious enthusiasm and smile.

I pray for his soul and look forward to seeing him once again in Paradise.

II just learned of Bill's passing today when I tried calling him as I have done over the years we've known each other to wish him a Happy Birthday.

It was like a punch in the gut to know he passed on.

I will miss him and remember all the good times we shared while he lived in LA.

We both were members of The Bachelor's Club in LA many years ago.

My condolences to all who have suffered by his passing.

Bill was the happiest guy I´ve ever known. He fit right in with all my buddies at Giants and Cal games and by the end of the night he was hugging it out with everyone. This photo of a beer in his hands at the shuffleboard table at The Kingfish in Oakland sums up the pure joy he brought to every outing. I miss you my friend and cheers to a life well lived.

We had good times together in the Northern California Ferrari Club. I will think of you the next time I fire up the beautiful 12 cylinders and imagine that you and Enzo are talking cars at the great track in the Sky.
