Paula Strother Obituary

November 19,1963 - November 30, 2022 Paula Christine Strother, born on November 19, 1963, passed away on November 30th, 2022 at her home in Altadena, California. After an inspiring and warrior-like battle against cancer, her last days were peaceful. She was surrounded by her son, Eli Cash, father, Lee Strother and a handful of close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Strother. Chris was born to Lee and Joyce Strother in Anaheim, California. The family moved to Arkansas for a few years then returned to California where Chris spent her childhood in Victorville. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. Her love for photography was sparked in those years, where she attended games and events with multiple cameras strapped across her chest. She went on to study photography at Pasadena Art Center. Those who knew Chris lived vicariously through her gaze of creating art. There was not a smashed up derby car, an anguished musician, or an elfin highschooler she didn't stop to admire, all the while conjuring the art piece she'd subsequently be working on. Chris made a living shooting musicians, artists and celebrities. She worked for a number of years as a director of music videos and commercials. She did not define herself by her work, instead she lived, documented and adventured her way across oceans and mountains. She loved music and would travel great distances to watch her friends and favorites perform. Chris learned to surf in her 30's, was an avid skier and snowboarder, and travelled to the most beautiful parts of the world whenever possible. Her most profound loves were her son Eli, her father Lee, and her beloved chickens. Her lust for living outside of the box lives on in Eli Cash, who adventured with her every time. Their last trip together was to Europe in August, 2022, which included cliff jumping (or contemplation thereof) in the Greek Islands. A Celebration of Life will be held January 7th at Angelus Mountain Center Lodge, 3697 N. Fair Oaks Dr., Altadena, CA. 1:00-5:00, ceremony at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary, San Luis Obispo, CA.

Hello - I was just thinking of Chris as we are now in November (2023). I miss Chris . She was one-of-a-kind and journeyed a more magical path than most! Every few years we would cross paths and it was as if no time had passed at all. She was a very easy friend to have. She shared a wonderful hike with me and now i think of her every time i go there. I'm so happy to see the photos shared below.

Although I hadn´t seen Chris in a long time I was saddened to hear this news of her passing. I used to do her hair as we were students at APU. She was one special lady. Beautiful inside and out. Her smile and style were 2nd to none. I pray that we all remember to laugh. Love. Encourage and cherish each day. Grab those loved ones around you. She took pictures of my daughters. Eli my prayers are with you. R I P Chris you inspired and filled our season with your love.
