On this anniversary of remembering Dr. Ralph Kimball, I wanted to relay a story that I also told his wife, Nedra.
Upon doing some research in my genealogy I found that my great great grandfather joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1841. But prior to that in about 1831 he was visited by two missionaries who came to his farm in Vermont. One was Heber C. Kimball. So basically my ancestor was brought the gospel by Dr Kimball“s ancestor. And as fate would have it in 1985 I met the Kimball family and had the pleasure of working closely with Dr Kimball as a dental hygienist in his Diamond Bar office for many years. So I owe a lot to the Kimball family from bring our family the gospel to employment! I even discovered that the oldest son of Ralph and Nedra was in my mission in Germany! Small world. My gratitude to the Kimball family has many facets Thank you Dr Kimball for your great strength and example. Sending this memory with my love and warm thoughts. Sue Ellsworth Chatham

As I reflect upon my youth, I cannot omit Bishop Kimball as one of my greatest influences. His dedication as Scoutmaster and all those trips down the Colorado river are some of my favorite all time memories, and consistently bring a smile to my face. His guidance and obvious love for youth were a constant comfort to me during tough times at home and I always knew he would take the time to listen even if he was in a rush. His family also allowed me to experience a little of their lives when I would go to their home to practice rope bridge building or paint kayaks. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for "My Bishop" and will never allow his memory to fade. My condolences to the entire Kimball family.

Dear Nedra and Family, on behalf of the Mercado Family we extend our deepest sympathy. Bishop Kimball was a huge influence in our lives not only spiritually but professionally as well. We all have great teeth thanks to him!! He will be missed greatly and even though I know we all have to pass on to the other side, it was some how comforting to know he was still here. Now, we have to be comforted knowing that he is fulfilling his eternal mission.

Dear Aunt Nedra,

I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Ralph's passing. I remember like it was yesterday you and he inviting me and my mission companion to Thanksgiving dinner when I was serving in Long Beach way back when. What a tender kindness to a homesick kid! Kitti and I will keep you in our hearts.

Dear Kimball Family, It is with heavy heart that we send our deepest sympathy to your entire family for the loss of Ralph. He was always an inspiraton to us and we loved his Gospel Doctrine lessons. I often recall his teaching of Jeremiah 7:23 and can hear him saying, "I will be your God, and ye shall be my people..." and "what would thou have me do today, Lord?" He made it all seem so simple.

May the loving arm of our Savior be wrapped around you and your family during this time and always. Our paryers are with you. With Love

Nedra, we are thinking of you and praying that Heavenly Father will comfort you in your loss. Ralph was one of the wisest, kindest, and most insightful people I have ever known. I always felt instructed and edified whenever I interacted with him. There are few men who are as widely loved and admired as Ralph was. His was a good life and we are sure it has brought a great reward, even peace and eternal life.

Imagine my sorrow when I heard of Ralph's passing, then imagine my joy that I knew him at all.

The father of one of my best friends, Linda, I came to understand what a pillar in the community Ralph was, aside from his unparallelled support of his children in whatever endeavor they put their mind to.

Most recently, he shared his passion for the cosmos as I slept under constellations painted on the ceiling afforded by one of his creations, a clever projection system to duplicate the heavens in their main star patterns at their home in St. George.

Now he is among them, shining no doubt brightly as he reunites with more loved ones.

For the dear family still here, you have my heart and my laughter for all the fun we ever have locked in our hearts. Much much love to you.

D ear Nedra, I will forever be grateful that I moved to Walnut and met the Kimballs. You and Dr. Kimball were beacons for me and my family. I am saddened by his passing and know how much he will be missed. His great example and love for others was amazing. His quest for knowledge was inspiring. His physical strength was that of a person well trained. So many qualities to admire. Thank God for blessing us with Dr. Kimball's life! Love to you and you family. Sue Chatham
