Peter Dufour Obituary

Dufour, Peter J.

Peter J. Dufour, age 71, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI . He was born on August 7, 1942 in Superior, WI , the son of the late Adrian J. and Jeanette I. Sellwood Dufour.



He attended and graduated from Central High School in Superior, WI . He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1960 to 1964. Following his service in the Navy, Peter worked for AT&T as a telephone repairman for over thirty years, until his retirement in 1997.



On September 4, 1994, Peter was united in marriage to Marsha Backaus in Sheboygan. Peter enjoyed playing pool, darts, cards, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid motorcyclist. Peter was very skilled and built his mother's house and his beloved doodlebug. In his retirement years Peter enjoyed being a volunteer fireman for the Butternut, WI Fire Department.



Survivors include his wife, Marsha; five children, Victoria Higgins Dufour, Kimberly (Courtny) Dufour, Tracy (Thomas Quaas) Sohre, Joseph Dufour, William (Janelle) Raunio; three step-children, Lonna (Steve) Berg, Michael (Jill) Peters, Richard (Kellie) Peters; grandchildren, Edward (Lacy), Curtis, Koda, Kimi, Joshua, Justin, Jordan, Jarod, Amanda, Alexis, Hannah, Skyler, Matthew, Adam, Zach, Cali, Jamie, Nicole and Katie. Peter is also survived by his brother, Michael (Diane) Dufour.



A memorial service for Peter will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 4:00P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3920 Saemann Ave., Sheboygan. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Peter's name.



Peter's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and ICU staff at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton and the Golden Living Center in Sheboygan for the compassion and care that was given to Peter and his family during this difficult time.

For as much as I did see him he was one of the BEST grandpas you could ever have. Couldn't believe it when I heard, wish I didn't have to. I love you grandpa may you R.I.P along with my other losts. Im so gratefull that you got to meet my beautiful daughter before your time was up. One of the greatest things I could have asked for. Love you.

I had the chance to spend Peter's last birthday with him. I remember how beautiful it was to watch him and Marcia dancing under the stars. The love they had for one another was truly inspirational. I also enjoyed riding on the doodle bug, and hearing his stories.
