Roger Treece Obituary

Treece, Roger L.

Roger Lee Treece, 65, a resident of Cleveland, died at his home on March 14, 2014.

Roger was born on October 17, 1948, to the late Harry A. Treece and Gladys M. (Smith) Treece in Bloomington, Illinois. Prior to his father's death in 1956, the family moved to Horse Cave, Kentucky. Unable to sustain, Roger and his mother moved back to Illinois and eventually to East Troy, Wisconsin. Roger graduated from East Troy High, class of 1966 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent two years in Viet Nam, returning to Wisconsin in 1969.

Roger spent his adult life building spec homes, laying telephone cable, farming and working as a plastics engineer. But he found his true calling in 2007 when he accepted the position of Commander of the Manitowoc Disabled American Veterans Post Andrew Miller Chapter 24. His health would force him to take a pause, but only until 2010 when he picked up the gavel once again.

Roger is survived by his wife, Elayne Stover-Treece; his sons, Jason Bryan, Brandon Bryan, Roger L. Treece, II (fiancé, Ashley Egger Gotham), William Treece; his step-son, George Stover; his nephew, Danny (Linda) Treece; his grandchildren, Sean Treece, Isabella Treece, Robin Egger, Sophie Egger, Kaylyn Ecker, Phoenix Ewald, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his half-brother, Harold Treece.

The family will greet friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Roger's name.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
