Sherley Eisch Obituary

Eisch, Sherley D.

Sherley D. Eisch of Sheboygan died on May 3, 2016. He was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on September 21, 1922 to William and Catherine (Lorenz) Eisch. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1943. He received a bachelor of music degree from McPhail College of Music in 1952 and a master of science in education from Winona State College in 1966. He began his teaching career in Morgan, Minnesota in 1952 and later taught music and English in Seneca, White Lake, Laona and Blair, Wisconsin. In 1968 he began teaching elementary school music in Sheboygan, which he did until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed music and teaching and was a published composer of music for school bands. His brother Bill taught him to play the piano, something he continued to do for the rest of his life, often playing for hours at a time. He also enjoyed the hobby of black and white photography, taking and processing thousands of pictures over the years. In his younger days he played the trumpet in dance bands with his high school friends. After retirement he entertained in nursing homes, playing the piano with other Sheboygan musicians. Sherley married Betty Lou Fuller on February 15, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2001. He was also preceded by brothers Sheldon, Kenneth and William. He is survived by children Jenny Eisch (Charlie Collins), Peter (Shelly) Eisch and Jonathan (Lisa) Eisch, grandsons Collin Eisch and Logan Eisch and step-grandson Paul Weiher. Thank you to the staff at Sheboygan Senior Community for the care they gave Sherley during the years he resided there and to those who took care of him at the end. Mr. Eisch was my music teacher at Mapledale School, Sheboygan (circa 1969). Early memories of Mr. Eisch teaching music back stage at that school still linger in my mind. He was a memorable mentor.
Thank you Mr. Eisch.
Condolences to the family.
God Bless !

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Sherley when I worked at a home for the elderly. His music brought great joy to the residents. He always took the time to visit with them and even stayed for coffee. Sherley was a great man who I am so thankful to have met.

My prayers are with your family.

Prayers go out to Sherley's family as they walk through the grieving process. May you have the peace of Christ which transcends all understanding. I enjoyed working in the music department of the SASD with Sherley. We also remember his lovely wife who worked at the library with some of our children.

Mr. Eisch was my music teacher in Laona. His inspiration led me to become a music teacher. His sense of humor led me to feel good about the whole world. I feel so lucky to have connected with him again at the Senior Community where I visited him in March. I envision him now at peace with his dear wife who he told me his missed so much. I wish I would have been able to read the book he was working on when I visited him. Peace!
