Cornell Wilson Obituary
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Cornell Sr. and Lillie Mathis Wilson. He was a member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church, where he served in the Layman's League. Mr. Wilson worked as a self-employed tile setter for more than 30 years.
In addition to his parents, two sister, Sarah Johnson and Evangeline H. Massey preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Surratt Wilson; his son, Rayfus M. Wilson Sr. (Genie) of Charlotte; two brothers, L. G.Wilson (friend Sarah) and James "Billy" Wilson (Nancy) of Grover; two grandsons, Rayfus M. Wilson Jr. and Rashard M. Wilson of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, Devin of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jayla and New Bern; two aunts, Ida Wray and Gladys Roberson of Shelby; one godson, Nick Snow; and many friends and other relatives.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church
Viewing: Noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the church
Burial: Eskridge Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
