Elizabeth Vogel Obituary

TRAPPE, Md. - Mrs. Elizabeth "Beth" A. Northrop Vogel, 54, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Talbot Hospice House, Easton, Md., after courageously enduring cancer. Family was gathered in prayer at her bedside.
She was born May 18, 1954, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Patricia J. McDonald Northrop of Denton, Md. and the late John "Jack" Northrop Sr. After graduating from Laurel High School in Laurel, Md. in 1972, she attended Anne Arundel Community College. She later received her nursing degree from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. In January of 1980, she married Richard B. Vogel at Ft. Meade, Md. They made their home in various places, while he served in the Air Force, until moving to Trappe in 1995. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Chesapeake Youth Center in Cambridge until retiring for health reasons. As a youth she was very active in sports. She played softball and while attending community college she coached softball with the Anne Arundel Parks and Recreation Service.
In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Vogel is survived by four children, Richard Dean Vogel and his wife, Katie, of Catonsville, Charles Alan Vogel and his wife, Jennifer, of Cordova, Jeremy Daniel Vogel and his wife, Shelby, of Easton and Mary Patricia Vogel of Easton and her fiancé, Andrew J. Cain; sister, Susanne Marie Draper and her husband, David, of Easton; two brothers, John J. Northrop Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Royal Oak and Scott McDonald Northrop and his wife, Kathy, of Queenstown; and three grandchildren, Grant Tyler, Gemma MacIntyre, and Sophia Jean Vogel.
