Thomas Jeffries Obituary

Thomas John Jeffries, 71, of Coos Bay, Oregon and formerly from Pentwater, passed away Nov. 23, 2023 after a long illness.

Tom was born in Hart on July 24, 1952, the oldest son of Albert, Jr. (Jim) and Florence (Benesch) Jeffries. He would grow up in Pentwater and graduated from Pentwater High School with the class of 1970. Tom attended MSU after high school and obtained a degree in forestry.

Tom traveled around the country some after college and landed in the state of Oregon in the great Northwest of the United States. He lived in a number of places in Oregon before arriving in Coos Bay on the Pacific Coast where he would make his home. Tom worked for a short time with the U.S. Forest Service and Coos Bay Trucking, hauling logs from the woods to the sawmill. Tom later went to work for the USPS and was a carrier at the North Bend Post Office until his retirement.

Tom enjoyed following pro and college sports, playing golf and bowling and taking trips on the Pacific Coast.

Tom is survived by two brothers, Albert (Bert) James Jeffries III and Robert J. Jeffries, both of Pentwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Florence Jeffries, and his younger brother Charles Jeffries.

According to his wishes, Tom has been cremated with part of his ashes remaining in Oregon and the rest to be buried in Pentwater Township cemetery.

Memorial donations in his name can be made to the Pentwater Township Library.
