I first met Ron when I was transferred to the Springfield Division of the FBI. Ron was ever so gracious to me and became a dear friend. He was a true gentleman, always looked on the bright side and had a fantastic sense of humor. Great guy and lived a long and meaningful life. We should all wish we could do the same and there should be no tears shed upon his death. He would love it if everyone would laugh and say as he would, "I did it my way and all of you should do the same." Don Whitehead, Springfield, Ill.

Wow,What a Gentleman, I loved it when he would come around me during Mardi Gras, he would want me to walk with him to the Meal Trucks parking on Severn Ave, and he would want a Sausage on French Bread with all the trims, onion, peppers, all kinds of things, but he loved them. He was such a good man and friend, he will be sadly missed, thanks Chief for all the fun memories....gave some good classes on Hostage Negotiations, I took 2 of them, one when he was with the FBI I think and the 2nd one with the Sheriff's Office, very smart man.

IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS JUST YESTERDAY WHEN "CHIEF' GIBBS CALLED ME INTO HIS OFFICE TO TALK ABOUT OUR NEXT TASK. HE WOULD THEN GIVE ME GOOD AND WELL THOUGHT OUT ADVICE AS TO HOW HE BELIEVED OUR MISSION WOULD BE BEST ACCOMPLISHED!
THAT REMEMBERANCE WAS SOMETHING THAT OCCURE MANY DECADES AGO WHEN I WAS A MEMBER OF THE JEFFERSON PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

I AM TAKEN ABACK WITH THE NEWS OF THE CHIEF'S PASSING. HOWEVER MY SADNESS IS THWARTED WITH THE CERTITUDE THAT HE IS IN ETERNITY WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. AND IS AT PEACE!

I HAVE MANY FOND MEMORIES OF CHIEF RON GIBBS AND AM HONORE TO HAVE SERVED WITH HIM DURING A MOST TRYING AND VIOLENT ERA IN AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT.

I STILL REMEMBER AND USE THE "GUIDING VALUES" THAT HE BESTOWED UPON ME. THEY AND MY REMEMBRANCE OF HIM CONTINUE TO WITHSTAND THE TEST OF TIME.

I SEND LOVE, PRAYERS AND STRENGTH TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY. ALL OF YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS EVERYDAY AT MASS AND EVERY NIGHT AT ROSARY.
