Hey Big Serg you ran across my mind today and I looked your name up and found this page. I remember when in1st got to the unit and you told me you were my platoon sergeant I laughed and you dropped me. But not without a lesson everything you did had a lesson and meaning whether I knew it at the time or not. I laughed because how could this slugged out black man be my platoon sergeant i thought you were hood hood especially when i told you i was from Alexandria, Louisiana and you said you were from Shreveport. Well that day you taught me to never go off the presumption of who I think people are but get to know them. He also told me he was gonna be on me because I was from his home state. Then I took that as this dude gonna be on my back and he was but it was only to push me to my full potential and get out of my comfort zone and my own way. I didn't understand that then but his words and lessons consummed me on that day. We had formation that day out the blue we knew something was wrong but never expected those words to be said. My soul crumbled as we not only our role model, our leader, our brother, but a great and caring father, and husband, a great person. I miss you Big Serg. you left a forever impact on me and I know a lot of others as well. 88M for life Alpha Company 407th BSB sorry for being all over the place and to his wife and children I love you guys and yall will forever be in my heart and prayers

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Sanders Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in Afghanistan. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

It has been a privledge and a honor to serve with you. To watch you grow from the hard headed PV2 you were to the One of the best Staff Sergeants the Army had. You became a good friend and someone I looked up too. At Fort Polk you had the tendacy to lead and take charge. In Korea you showed me how be that leader, I never had the chance to thank you. It has taken me a while to write this message, partly due to the heartache I feel when Its someone you spent your first 4 years of your military career with. Secondly, its even harder when that person mentored you into the person you are.

Take care my friend, you are home now.

Hey broda its me again. I just want to tell you that I love you very much and that you are always on my mind. I sat on my couch yesterday and just looked at the pictures that I have of you around my house and I thought my brother has been gone two years. Broda I love you there is no way that words can explain. You never got to meet my youngest baby but she sat and she looked at the pictures and she said mommie who is that and all I could do was cry broda I love you very much, but I end up telling her Nakia thats uncle Ronnie. I hate that she has to know you through pictures and I hate that the twins have to know you through pictures. The only thing that can make me smile instead of cry when I sit and sit and sit and think about you is that you are in a better place. I miss you though. LOVE YA. Your lil sister.

I really miss you big cuz and I wish you could be here today with us. I never got a chance to tell you this but I really did look up to you and admire you. Out of all the males in the family, you went off and made something of yourself. Its so hard to cope with you being gone, but i know you wouldnt have it any other way. I love Dank and I am always thinking of you. One day I know we will see each other again, until then hold it down up there in heaven. Tell Aunt Helen I miss and love her too. I wish I could just see the both of you for one day cause I would have so much to talk about. Love yall always and forever.

(Something I do everday) Broda I just want you to know that even though I never told but you meant alot to me. Also I just want to tell you that I am sorry because I know that I am not doing the right thing by my nieces and my nephew but I want you to know that I am going to try my best and do whats right. I love you and I love them soooooooo Much. I just sit and I remember all these things we have done together and all the times I would come to Shreveport and you would just ride me around and tell people this my lil sister. I miss that broda you were all I had it was just me and you. At times I just miss the way you would call and say SHUNDA and we would just talk and laugh and joke around even with mamma we would all just be on the phone talking and playing it was fun. But its almost Christmas time again and here another year not broda for Christmas not even to call and say "tell my nephew hey" like you always use to do. Til this day mamma has that picture in the truck that you had of stankaman cuz no matter what that was your nephew. But I just want to say that I love you and that you are always on my mind.

Me and the rest of the family miss you alot Dank man foreal. I pray you would just come to me and live through me as i go through again what you did a coupe of years ago. I got a tattoo with a rifle and your name under it to always show people who you were and what you did. I dont hesitate to do it. I sometimes hold my arm a certain way when im walin so people will notice it LOL. Damn i dont know what else i could put here but i love you cousin foreal man. You came to me in my dreams once and i never fortget it. I sometimes have a hard time trying to figure out what it meant but then when i think about it i do know what i meant. TIWANNA CULLINS-CAMPBELL

July 21, 2008

The Decorated soldier stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his uniformed was squared away and his boots were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"

The Soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord I guess I ain't, because those of us who carry Guns can't always be a Saint.

I've had to work on Sundays, and though times my work was tough, and sometimes I've had to be a little violent, Because on the battlefield it's always rough But I never killed out of malice, that wasn't what I was put here to do, I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills just had to be carry through.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times in this battlefield I shook with fear, and sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me in your heavens, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't I will understand."

There was silence all around the Throne, where the Saints often trod. As the Soldier waited quietly for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, Soldier you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Iraq, The place we call Earth's Hell."

FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IN THE LITTLE TIME THAT I KNEW RONNIE HE DIDN'T TALK MUCH AND NEVER HAD REALLY TO MUCH TO SAY BUT HE WAS A VERY GOOD PERSON . HE WAS DEDICATED TO HIS WIFE RACHEL AND HIS TWO GIRLS AND MOST OF ALL HE WAS DEDICATED TO THE MILITARY. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIM FOR LAYING HIS LIFE DOWN FOR MY FREEDOM PERSONNALLY BECAUSE IT'S HARD FOR A PERSON TO LEAVE THIER FAMILY AND TAKE ON SUCH A TASK AS THIS ONE AND LOOSE HIS LIFE IN A INSTANT. THERE'S NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK OF RONNIE AND IT'S HARD FOR ME TO TALK TO RACHEL AT TIMES BUT I KNOW I HAVE TO BE STRONG FOR HER. THERE'S NO GREATER LOVE THAN A MAN THAT WOULD LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR A FRIEND .YOU ARE IN DEED A TRUE FRIEND AND A HERO, REST IN THE HANDS AND BOSSOM OF OUR GOD BUT, YOU CAN'T CROWN HIM UNTIL THE REST OF US GET THERE. UNTIL THEN GOOD BYE FRIEND .TIWANNA

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I had the pleasure of working side by side with SSG Sanders as we was in the same platoon B 702d MSB (HETs) in Korea (SPC-P to SGT). SSG Sanders was always full of energy and never seemed to run out of it. He was always motivating everyone, regardless of their rank, up or down from his own. He was always professional in his appearance and his ability to lead soldiers. I would occasionaly run into SSG Sanders at walmart in Spring Lake, NC as I was also stationed at Bragg. I recently learned of SSG Sanders death through another friend who was also in our platoon in Korea. I offer my prayers to SSG Sanders and to his family and friends, we lost a great soldier. May SSG Sanders memories live on as he is now in a better place. God Bless you SSG Sanders for making the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Nation. Rest in Peace Soldier...

My heart goes out to Staff Sgt. Ronnie L. Sanders. I don't know him but he will be miss.

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Mrs. Sanders and the Sanders family, As a member of the Golden Griffin Team, the loss of SSG Sanders was tough, but undoubtedly even tougher for his family. I talked with SSG Sanders one night when we were jumping and he talked extensively of each and every one of his soldiers. At his memorial service, I realized that we had lossed a truly great person, leader and Non-Commissioned Officer. Rest assured he will be remembered as a hero and his death was a most honorable one. The sacrifice he gave will never be forgotten by myself or the paratroopers in our unit. May God bless SSG Sanders and all that he loved. God bless you and your family.

I only had the pleasure of meeting SSG Sanders one time. On January 2nd. 2007, when they were being deployed from Fort Bragg,N.C. My nephew (1st.LT. Jacob Allen) and SSG.Sanders were very close friends. Jacob would talk about him often and how much he looked up to him, he felt like they were brothers, so when we went to see him off our family got to finally meet the man that we had heard so many wonderful things about.I know he and my nephew were inseperable,he said SSG.Sanders was a country boy like he is and they had so much in common other than the Army. He made a huge impression on us all. Our hearts are saddened by the loss of such a remarkable man.Iam eternaly greatful for his service to this country.I have told my nephew and some of the other members of the 407th. that now they truley do have a guardian angel to watch over them. God bless the Saunders family, you are in our prayers. He was a wonderful person who will never be forgotten.

As I look back on Ronnie Sanders I see a man who had goals and quickly acheived them. SSG Sanders was the epitomy of what an NCO should "BE, KNOW, and DO". You are brave man and I will never forget you. May GOD bless your family and your daughters grow up to be a reflection of you. GOD BLESS!

Don't know what to say, tears are in my eyes. I served in Kuwait Iraq with Sgt Sanders in 2004
a truly outstanding NCO., helped me fit in when I got promoted to Sgt, how to discipline my soldiers. He was a real natural at that. Deepest sympathies, A Fabian

My deepest sympathies to you and your family over the loss of this brave soldier. I don't know you and will never know you. But I thank Ronnie for the freedom I am enjoying in my life. His sacrifice for us all is the ultimate gift. The Bible says there is no greater honor than when someone gives their life for others. Jesus did it and Ronnie did it also. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Ronnie. Having lost someone close I can tell you that time heals broken hearts and our faith tells us that we will see our loved ones again.

Sincerely and Respectfully

The way he always was. Keep smiling bro.

I came to know SSG Sanders well over the nine months that he was with my unit. What first struck me was his professionalism and the way he carried himself as an NCO. We became friends shortly there after talking often about everything from work to our families. I may have only known him for what seemed like the shortest nine months of my life, and our relationship was limited to the unit, but I will be enternally grateful for the time that was allowed to me and the things that I learned from him. It did not matter what was needed of him he provided it. If you needed a friend, brother or even a father he was there to be that for you. I saw this everyday when he interacted with his troopers. The photo I am attaching was taken by a trooper in his platoon two days before he was killed. It is a great photo and is the way I will always remember him (smiling with all of that gold). I know he is with God now but I wish he had more time to spend with us. He will be greatly missed.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go
