Robert William Baylor Jr.

1928 - 2022 Robert William Baylor Jr., 94, a former Todt Hill Road resident, passed away peacefully at his current residence at the Atrium at Navesink Harbor in Red Bank, N.J., in the presence of his wife Merilyn (Mimi), and his two daughters Julie and Nancy. He was predeceased by his son Rich in 2013. Bob knew his wife "Mimi" almost forever - both grew up in Four Corners on Staten Island, they lived on the same street, and were childhood friends. He later served as a Ski Trooper in the U.S. Army's Mountain Division. After marrying Mimi in 1950, they settled into their Dongan Hills home where they would reside for the next 68 years and raised three children. During his time on Staten Island, Bob worked as a pipe fitter for his father's Baylor's Plumbing & Heating Company, and later as a stereotyper for the N.Y. Times. His skiing skills helped with his military placement after he was drafted into the Army Mountain Division, and his love of skiing flourished as an active member of the Staten Island Ski Club taking ski trips around the country and abroad. As a whole, the family grew up horseback riding in their backyard, loved the beach and spending summers at the Jersey Shore. Bob is survived by his wife Mimi, their children Julie Klimowicz (William), and Nancy Milnes (Peter), daughter-in-law Marian, and grandchildren William and Michael Klimowicz, Peter and Haley Milnes, and Kerianne, Trevor and Andrew Baylor. There will be grave-side service on Feb. 4, Friday, at Moravian Cemetery in New Dorp for family and friends (meet at 12:45pm at cemetery office). If you attend, please wear a mask.
