Daniel Warren Waters Jr.

1934 - 2021

Daniel Warren Waters Jr., 86, passed away in Valencia, California on Thursday, October 21, 2021. He passed peacefully at home from CHF with his wife of 64 years and his family by his side.
Dan was born November 1, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Daniel Waters Sr. and Lillian Waters. He married his wife Marion in 1957 and they spent their first year together living in Hawaii as he finished his service in the Navy. After honing his skills as a draftsman in the Navy, Dan returned to Southern California to become a Civil Engineer, earning his Bachelor's Degree from UCLA and his Master's Degree from USC. In his 40 year career, he put his all into many positions at the LA Department of Water and Power, from overseeing the construction of the hydro-electric plant at Castaic Lake to head of Public Affairs and retiring as General Manager in 1994. Dan went on to lead SCAPPA (Southern CA Public Power Authority) and twice came out of retirement to serve as interim GM of Glendale Water and Power.
Dan loved spending time with his family and friends camping, snow skiing, water skiing, traveling the world and at their cabin in Lake Arrowhead. He and Marion have been members of the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall since 1971. Dan's family will remember him for his unconditional love for his family, the way he lived with integrity and the positive attitude he kept even until the very last day before he went home to be with the Lord.
Dan is survived by his wife, Marion Waters, daughters Colleen Crescenti and her husband Tim Crescenti, Kimberly McMullen and her husband Kyle McMullen. His grandchildren include Christopher Poe and his wife Brandi Poe, Daniel Crescenti and his wife Casey Crescenti, Kelli Crescenti and her husband Rob Errico, CJ McMullen and Luke McMullen. His great-grandchildren include Khaleesi Poe and brand new great-granddaughter Liliana Jade Crescenti born four days after Dan passed away.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date
