SIOUX CITY - Elizabeth Ann Draisey, age 83 of Sioux City, IA passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at The Heritage at Northern Hills Assisted Living in Sioux City, IA.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA with Pastor Kristine Stedje officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Visitation with family present will be 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.
Liz was born May 29, 1940 in Spencer, IA the daughter of Melvin & Thelma (Schultz) Jensen. She was raised on a farm near Everly, IA and received her education at Everly High School graduating in 1958. Liz then moved to Sioux City and attended United Methodist School of Nursing. She worked at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City where she met her husband Robert Draisey who was a transporter in the radiology department.
They were married on Nov. 25, 1962 at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, IA. Liz continued to work at Methodist Hospital which then became St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for 44 years in the surgery department as a registered nurse. Liz and Bob had two children, Scott and Amy. They were married for 56 years. Bob passed away on July 10, 2019.
Liz loved outdoor flowers she planted in spring and her fall mums. She loved to cook and have monthly breakfasts for her retired nurse's friend group. She also loved to bake and to give out the baked goods at Christmas to friends and neighbors. Most of all she Cherished and lived for her family and friends.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the church circle and served on the board for the women of the church. She was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Liz volunteered at St. Luke's after her retirement until she was physically unable to.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Mark) Augustine of Le Mars, IA; her five grandchildren, Kayla (Jared) Meis, Sara Stodden, Steven Draisey, Tycen Augustine, Brogen Augustine; 3 great-grandsons, Noah, Watson and Archer Meis; also her cat Otis; two brothers, John (Pat) Jensen, Carl (Carol) Jensen; one sister, Margaret Jensen; brothers-in-law, Larry Dalton and Ron Bandza; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Scott Draisey; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bandza, Darlene Cardwell and Caron Dalton; brother-in-law, Ken Draisey.
Casket bearers will be Tycen Augustine, Brogen Augustine, Steven Draisey and Jared Meis.
