Devyn Greff Obituary
SPRINGFIELD - Devyn M. Greff, 19, of Springfield, formerly of Virden, died at 9:04 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at St. John's Hospital.
Devyn was born Jan. 10, 1988, in Springfield, the son of Daryn L. Heinisch and Denyse Greff. Devyn worked for Norris Builders in Auburn and just received his GED.
Devyn is survived by his parents; Daryn L. Heinisch and Denyse Greff; stepmother, Sherry Heinisch; daughters, Alyze M. and Alexis G. Greff, both of Florida; grandmother, Carolyn Reznicek of Carlinville; grandfathers, Kenneth Greff and Don Heinisch, both of Virden; brothers, Bryer Greff of Springfield and Konner Heinisch of Thayer; sisters, Kimberly Heinisch of Thayer and Addisyn Greff and Bristyll Greff, both of Springfield; and mother of his daughters, Catina Barreras.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Janice Heinisch.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden. Services will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Brent Williams officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family. Burial will be in the Virden Cemetery.

Denyse and family;
We are truly sorry for your loss. No mother should ever have to lose a child. Please take comfort in knowing that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We don't see each other much, but we will always be family. I remember the times we used to spend as kids swimming in the pool in your parents' back yard in Virden (and going to Wareco for candy). It would be so great to go back to simpler times.
I can't believe how much time has moved on. We all have children that are growing up and trying to make their way in the world.
I know that Devyn will be in the hearts and in the thoughts of those who loved him for a long time.

Devyn, my son, it breaks my heart that you are not with us anymore. As a mother I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through at this time. Even though we don't see each other anymore, the memories of growing up with your family remain close to my heart. I remember when Devyn was born, it doesn't really seem like 19 years have passed since then. To look at his picture and see what a handsome young man he was, and to read about him, I can see that Devyn was just as beautiful on the inside as he was on the outside. Devyn was one of my best friends the only fight we ever got in was recently and it makes me fell horrible because he was my first friend when i moved here in third grade i definitly hope he realizes im sorry and how much i miss him. Devyn and family it only seems like yesterday seeing you riding your bike growing up with Nicki and Ashley like Nicki said you were one of her first bicycle friends you will be sadly missed and my heart goes out to all your loved ones. Daryn, Denyse, Sherry and Family, I remember the day Devyn was born as if it were yesterday. (Little Mr. Macoupin County.) This unfortunate tragedy is most devastating. Some gifts in life are allowed to be enjoyed for a long time, others only briefly. We were so LUCKY to have Devyn on Earth for the brief time we did. May there be joy in your hearts because you had such a wonderful person to love…My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of sorrow.

I pray justice will be served. I pray God will give those who knew you, the strength to understand and deal with the pain of your loss. Devyn, your WONDERFUL smile will forever be treasured in our hearts as we try to understand here on earth why you were taken away so young. You truly will be missed and our sorrows will heal as God gives us the courage and strength. May the memories of your kindness and smile be shared with the two little girls left behind so that they will have fond memories of a father they will not get to know other than through the memories.
