James B. Piland
SPRINGFIELD, IL - James B. Piland, 59, passed away July 23, 2015, at his brother's home.
He was born in Rosiclare on Oct. 14, 1955, to Harold "Bill" and Faye (Yates) Piland.
James was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an administrator with the Illinois Secretary of State Index Department. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, painting and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
He is survived by his son, Jeremiah Dean Piland; parents, Bill and Faye Piland; brother, Gregory D. (Jan) Piland; sister, Kelly Jo (Jack) Sutphin; niece, Carly Piland; and nephews, Nathan Piland and Michael Hamrick.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Hope Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chuck Goodman officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association in honor of his mother.

So very saddened to hear of Jim's passing. What a wonderful person!... We traveled to Springfield to meet him and his staff at the Sec of State office. It turns out that my husband, Tony Flannigan, is/was very good friends with Jim's Uncle Bob Piland when they flew together at SIU-Carbondale years ago. So sorry for your loss and ours!...
