JOANN STAPLETON Obituary

NEW BERLIN, IL - JoAnn (Frey) Stapleton, 83, of New Berlin, died peacefully at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at St. John's Hospice.

JoAnn was born July 31, 1932, to Margaret (Carberry) and William Frey in Springfield, Ill.

She is survived by a daughter, Maureen (William) Waters; son, Jim (Franci) Stapleton; two grandsons; and sister, Eleanor (Jim) Stribling.

JoAnn looked forward to reuniting with those she loved that preceded her in death including her husband, James B. Stapleton; mother, Margaret, and father, William; brother, William Frey; and sisters, Sr. Mary Henry, O.P. and Sr. Marie Celine, O.P.

JoAnn attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and was part of the Class of 1950 at Sacred Heart Academy. Following high school graduation, she attended Springfield Junior College, later earning her Medical Technologist certification. JoAnn proudly worked at St. John's Hospital laboratory until beginning the career she loved the most, wife and mother. In later years, she was employed at Wareco Oil Company.

Faith, family and friends were the things that mattered most to JoAnn. She had deep faith in, and a personal relationship with, God. Friends and family would frequently ask JoAnn to pray for them. "Love and prayers" was an often heard phrase she used to end conversations.

JoAnn loved to cook, entertain family and friends, and make her home a place filled with love.
