The Eldred Family, Max and I shared many a good time at field trials. I always had a great deal of respect for him and enjoyed his company as well as the competition. I learned of this tragic event at the AFTCA meeting this past weekend in Chicago. The group was certainly saddened by this unfortunate news. My most sincere sympathy during this trying time. May God bless.

Polly and Family,
Max will be greatly missed by all field trialers, hunters, and friends. He was an honest, fair, and tough competitor that made the outdoor life more enjoyable for all of us. We all knew we had to improve to compete with Max. His contributions to all field trials will never be forgotten.

Polly & Entire Family: I want you to know how sad I am about Max's passing. I've known him since childhood & I will never forget his easy going, shy character. I would love to be there today, but perhaps we can visit at a later time. I know things are very hectic & overwhelming at this time. My thoughts & prayers are with you and yours. I will be in touch. Polly and Family--
You are in my thoughts and prayers as you walk through this sudden loss of Max. Treasure his legacy for family and those of us who knew him--one of concern for others, one of service wherever needed, one of optimism and laughter. God touch you-all and hold you close! So glad I saw him at Class of '56 reunion last year.......

Keith and I met Max when we got our first English Setter, Zoie. We appreciated the pointers he gave to us on our new puppy and thought he was a very kind person. Even though we only knew him a short time, we were always able to talk to him by telephone, and he was always willing to give advice.
