William R. Hart
VIRDEN, IL – William R. "Bill" Hart, 83, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Sunrise Nursing Home in Virden, Ill.
Bill was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Virden, Ill., a son to Walter Lee and Lillian (Gaines) Hart. He graduated from Virden High School in 1948 and married Marjorie E. Knox on June 6, 1949, in Girard, Ill. Bill owned and operated William R. Hart Construction Co. for many years, worked as a coal miner at Freemen Crown III and retired from the State of Illinois Dept. of Revenue. He was a 50 year member of the Virden Masonic Lodge # 161 A.F. & A.M., a former sexton and board member for the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Virden Church of the Brethren in Virden.
Surviving Bill are his wife, Marjorie E. Hart of Virden; daughters: Carol Sue (Eric) Peters of Hardy, Ark., Linda A. Bryant of Chatham, Ill., and Mary Ellen Hart of Virden, Ill.; a son, William Bruce Hart of Springfield, Ill.; brothers, Leonard B. Hart of Loami, Ill., and Robert E. Hart of Riverton, Ill.; grandchildren: Bethany L. (Marc) Sattovia of Ballwin, Mo., Thomas Peters of Hardy, Ark., Keaton A. Peters of Auburn and Jared R. (Mandy) Bryant of Divide, Colo.; great-grandchild, Camden Sattovia of Ballwin, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Walter Hart.
There will be a Masonic Service starting at 10 a.m. prior to the visitation which will be from 10:30 a.m. to time of service at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Virden Church of the Brethren in Virden, the Rev. David Barnett officiating. Organist will be Eileen Reichert.
Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden will accord cremation rites following services with burial of ashes at a later date at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Virden.
Memorials may be made to Virden Church of The Brethren, Prairieland Ambulance or Virden Rescue Squad.
