R. "Billy" Ramsey
SPRINGFIELD - William R. "Billy" Ramsey, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center.
Billy was born on September 1, 1944 in Springfield the son of William R. and Dorothy Franklin Ramsey, Sr.
Billy lived in a Sparc Home for thirty years and attended Sparc Senior Center on Stevenson Drive. He enjoyed playing catch with a baseball or football and loved to shoot baskets. He enjoyed watching sports of any kind, especially football. He also liked his watch and his coin pouch and never left home without them. Through the years he participated in the Special Olympics winning several medals, which he wore proudly.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Kurzydlo of Springfield; one brother, Richard (Carol) Ramsey of Springfield; one sister, Nancy (Jay) Goble of Eureka, MO; one niece; three nephews; seven great nieces and three great nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home, 530 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home Reverend Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sparc, 232 N. Bruns Lane, Springfield, IL 62702.
Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 530 N. 5th St. Springfield, IL is in charge of arrangements.

My heart goes out to the family of Bill, he was very special to me and it hurts my heart that I'm just now hearing about this for I'm no longer at sparc,I will always keep ur family n my prayers and he will be deeply missed in my heart.

I will miss Bill greatly. He was such a super guy and I enjoyed always being able to be around him. He made me laugh and always put a smile on his face. His personality will be greatly missed.

Dorothy and family,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of such a wonderful and fun person to be around. Bill and I had a very long history as I began working with him in 1994. His offer of a penny and a smile will always have a place in my heart.

I had the privilege of working with Bill when I worked at Sparc & we bonded. I am really sad to hear about this but I know God has another wonderful angel.. My thoughts & prayers go to his family. He will be missed
