JANE BRIDGE Obituary

Jane Ellen Bridge, our amazing grandmother, mother, sister, aunt and friend passed away at her home in Anacortes, WA on November 26, 2014 at the age of 67 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends who supported her throughout her difficult journey. Jane was an especially loving and kind person who was always there for us and it was our rich blessing and privilege to be there for her as she succumbed to her illness.

Jane was born July 8, 1947 in Sedro Woolley, WA to parents Earl Edwin Silverthorn and Ellen Wade Silverthorn. She grew up on a dairy farm with her grandparents, parents and numerous siblings. Her home was rich in love, deep in its faith and profound in its volume.

Upon graduating from Sedro Woolley High School, Skagit Valley Community College, and attending Western Washington State College, she married Alan Bridge. Together they raised their children Shaun and Leanna. As the years went by and her extended family grew, holidays, birthdays and family gatherings became incredible in their size, scope and complexity. She absolutely loved being together with her family at holidays, birthdays, graduations, sister weekends in Seattle and any other event that warranted a proper get together with all the food, fellowship and noise that these events entailed.

After raising her children, she returned to her own academic pursuits, earning her bachelor's degree at Chapman University. Jane greatly enjoyed her careers, both of them. She was a long-time employee at Chandler's Square and Edward Jones. She was very fond of her coworkers Jim and Carol at Edward Jones as well as her many coworkers and the residents of Chandler's.

Jane loved her family, friends and coworkers but the deepest love and the greatest joys in her life were reserved for her grandchildren: Alex, Lilly, Sofia and Alistair. One needed to be very guarded with their inquiries and have much spare time if they asked her about her grandchildren. The unknowing person would soon be regaled with tales of Alex's soccer exploits, Lilly's skiing endeavors, Sofia's social circle and Alistair's vast knowledge of things scientific. To her grandchildren she wasn't just Jane or Mom, she was Gummy and Gummy was fun!

Jane is survived by her children: Shaun (Tami) Bridge, Leanna (David) Rezvani, her grandchildren whom she adored: Alex Bridge, Lilly Bridge, Sofia Rezvani, Alistair Rezvani, the multitude of siblings and their spouses who surrounded her with love and supported her to the very end: Sheila (Charlie) Matthews, Kath Silverthorn, Maggie (Tom) Thompson, Mary (Mark) Kiser, Elizabeth Silverthorn (Mike Lamers), Patty (Van) Johnson, Christine (Dave) Cote, Tom (Stephanie) Silverthorn, numerous nieces and nephews and lastly, her very dear friend Button Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Earl and Ellen Silverthorn, and a sister, Paula Silverthorn.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes, followed by interment at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes. A reception was held at the Fr Auer Center following interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank, Hospice of the Northwest or the Mt. Vernon Christian School Foundation.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.

My deepest sympathies to Jane's family and friends. I never met Jane but Maggie, Mary, and Patty have regaled us with many stories of their growing up together! They made you want to be a part of it all....and I felt like I knew Janie from their stories. May peace surround your family and God's hand touches your hearts and eases your grief.

Jane was the first of my cousins. She was always cheerful and smiling. She reminded me of her mother so much. My sympathy goes out to Shaun and Leanna and Jane's sisters and brother.
