Josephine Jean Wiggs

1928 - 2007

Josephine Jean (Jo Jean) Wiggs, age 78, of Lynden, was taken to be with her Heavenly Father at the Christian Health Care Center on Friday, July 7, 2007.

She was the daughter of Ernest and Isabel (Enlow) Nichols and was born in Osawatomie, Kansas on December 30, 1928. Following high school, Jo Jean graduated from Baker University.

She moved to Washington in 1950 when she married Eldon Wiggs in Seattle on September 1, 1950. She was a substitute teacher in many Western Washington schools. Following retirement Jo Jean and Eldon moved to Lynden in 1994.

Jo Jean was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Lynden. She will be remembered for her shinning smile, abiding faith and servant heart. She was active in Girl Scouts as a leader and other activities included Christian women's Club, Children's Orthopedic Hospital Guild and Young Life. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed the challenges of that game. Golf was a passion in her later years.

Jo Jean is survived by her husband Eldon; daughters Shannon of Gig Harbor and Debra of Bellingham and other members of the extended family.

Jo Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ernestine Bennett and Wilesta Pierce.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Faith Reformed Church, 7th & Liberty Streets in Lynden.
