SHUBERT HUNTER. SR. Obituary
January 6, 2021
Shubert James Hunter Sr., age 87, a longtime resident of Marblemount passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Skagit Valley Hospital, Mount Vernon, Washington.
He was born March 13, 1933 in Neah Bay, WA, to Lyle and Regina (Moses) Hunter.
Shubert earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and served in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He worked for the Forest Service in many capacities and served locally as a volunteer firefighter. He will be greatly missed.
Shubert is survived by his sons, Shubert James (Kathy J.) Hunter, Jr. and Lawrence Wayne Hunter; brothers, Reginald Wayne Hunter and Arnold Hunter; aunt, Annabelle Dallaire; grandchildren, Shubert Hunter III, Heather Anne Haj, Michael J. Hunter, Valerie Lynn Hunter; great-grandchildren, Shubert Hunter IV, Gavin Hunter, Titus Hunter, Tanner Haj, Bristol Robinette, John Moilanen, Tyler James Hunter, James Dean Booker, and Destiny Lynn Gilbert; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife, Alma Dorothy Hunter.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Harry Moses Indian Cemetery, Marblemount.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, masks will be required as well as adhering to social distancing.
Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in the loss of your brother, father and grandfather.We both grew up with Shubert in Marblemount and have many fond memories of those years. We remember the honor he received being an Eagle Scout and shared in his most deserved award. I, Shirley remember him before school years when he was nicknamed, "Smokey" by his family. He was always respectful and friendly to be around.
