Rita M. Weis

1946 - 2017

Rita M. Weis, 71, of 149 W. Condot Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 11, 1946 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Charles and Ingeborg Nelson Brendel. She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1964, and a graduate of St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. Rita worked in the emergency and operating rooms at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital and later worked for many years for Dr. Thacker at the pain clinic, from which she retired.
In July of 1967, Rita married Michael W. "Mick" Weis, who preceded her in death May 3, 2013.
Rita was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Nurses' Study Club and volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and the Resale Shop. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Wally.
She is survived by a daughter, Leigh Aaron and her husband James of St. Marys; a son, Brian Weis and his wife Sharon Sibley-Weis of Sellersville; and by a granddaughter, Audrey South.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Dawn Brendel.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Rita M. Weis to be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. with Dave Catalano officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
