Michael Mudd Obituary

Michael Turner Mudd, 78 of Suffolk, Virginia died at Lake Prince Woods in Suffolk on November 28, 2025 from complications of Parkinson's disease. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with

family by his side.

Michael was born in Washington, D.C. to Jayne Faucett Mudd and John Turner Mudd. He lived most of his life in Bryantown, MD, first on the family farm, where he helped with the livestock and crops and rode his horse Cricket. He competed with her in the County horse show. Michael studied agriculture at University of Maryland and served as the Director of Public Facilities for Charles County Government for 17 years. Following his retirement, he worked as Vice President of Operations at Charles County Nursing Home in LaPlata. An expert in gardening and landscaping, he also enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. He could answer questions about problems with cars and home repairs, and had a solution for everything.

Michael loved talking about Mudd family history and his childhood in Bryantown. He

was "a no-nonsense but loving father" who gave frequent encouragement and often told his children how proud of them he was. His employees were routine in their praise for his

management style, which encouraged the best work from all.

He is survived by Sally, his wife of 55 years, daughter Jennifer and spouse Gwyn Benny; daughter Megan Bales, her husband Michael and their children Evie, Charlie and Andy; son Michael and partner Amber Kivett and his children Claire, Lucy, Addison and Hunter; son Patrick and partner Danny Gatewood; and dog Osa. Other survivors include his sister Mary and her partner Bill Nesmith; and brother John, his wife Betty and their children Maggie and John.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made

to The Parkinson's Foundation in his memory.
