Chester Hankerson Obituary

NILES - Chester Hankerson, 63, of Tampa, FL, passed away on September 10, 2012, in Tampa, FL, of natural causes. He was born July 8, 1949, in Niles, MI. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mourning Chester is his wife, Lula M. Hankerson; son, Jeno Virgil Hankerson; two daughters, Latecia Tenille Hankerson and Donecia Miller; sister, Queen Hankerson Hicks; brother, Willie James Hankerson; and five grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Leuanna Hankerson, and a sister, Bertha Hankerson Hall. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Faith Apostolic Ministries in South Bend, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, September 21, 2012, at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan, MI. Online condolences may be received at www.hovenfunerals.com.

He was a beautiful human being. Always a joy to see. Admired by all who knew him. He will be missed. I was his teacher and coach at BHS.

Our Dad, Ray Berry, was Chet's basketball coach at Buchanan High School and always spoke very highly of him as a person and an athlete. The two of them are probably reminiscing about Buchanan basketball. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family.
