MARGARET STOWERS
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Margaret "Margie" Stowers, 90, of Williamson, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born February 23, 1925, in Woodbridge Township, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Kijak and Constance Jankowiak Kijak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Fugate Dulaney Stowers; three brothers, Daniel, Bill and Leo Kijak, and a son-in-law, Eddie Starr.
Margie was an active owner and the vice president of Stower's Fire and Safety Equipment Inc. of Williamson. She was a longtime member of the Williamson Seventh Day Advent Church.
In addition to her responsibilities in the business, Margie was also a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was an avid reader and a self-taught pianist.
Margie had devoted her life in earlier years to rearing her children. She was a loving and devoted mother and she was deeply loved by her children. She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Margie is survived by her children: Connie (Dennis) Medvee of Tacoma Park, Md., JoAnn Starr of Maher, Lanette (Dietmar) Piekarek of Williamson, Amy Stowers of San Diego, Calif., and Allen (Tambria) Stowers of Pigeon Roost, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Sokol of Englishtown, N.J., and a sister-in-law, Loretta Kijak, also of Englishtown.
The visitation and funeral service will be held Monday evening, October 5, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jim Buchannon and Pastor Dan Morikone officiating.
Interment is in the Old Tennent Cemetery at Tennent, N.J., on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 1 p.m.
