James Plausse Obituary

James M. Plausse, 54, of New Britain, Conn., passed into eternal rest Aug. 11, 2013, after many years as a quadriplegic as a result of an automobile accident in 1984. Jimmy was born in Brockton, Mass., March 7, 1959, the son of H. Robert Plausse and Margaret (ONeil) Plausse. Prior to his accident, he was a manager for Papa Ginos. Following his accident, he was given five years to live and he fought a courageous battle. He always said he could beat the odds and he did. He changed many lives because of his positive attitude and zest for life. Jim was a gifted athlete during his years at Brockton High School. He was an avid Boston sports fan especially of the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He loved his family and was overjoyed when his grandson Tyler was born in 2010. Jims family would like to thank the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Conn., for their excellent care, concern and support. He is survived by his father, H. Robert Plausse of Lincolnville, Maine, formerly of Pembroke, Mass.; his stepmother, Janet Plausse; his son, James Plausse Jr. and his partner Melissa Smith; his grandson, Tyler; his daughter, Jennifer Plausse; his former wife and good friend, Pam Yannone; his brothers, Robert Plausse, Billy Plausse, Mark Plausse, David Plausse, Scott Plausse, Brad Plausse and Peter Petrides; his sister, Lisa Spencer; his grandmother, Evelyn Magee; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret, his grandfather, Exore Plausse, and his grandmother, Sadie ONeil. At Jims request, there will be a private graveside service at a later date. In his memory, gifts may be sent to the Hospital for Special Care, Attention Lorri Annear, 2150 Corbin Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053. The Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, in Plainville, Conn., has care of arrangements. For additional information or to leave words of condolence, please visit www.Bailey-FuneralHome.com.

Thank you to all who have offered their condolences. As his older brother, Jim and I spoke at length over the years about his struggles and frequently reminisced (and laughed) about the good old days with our brothers in Brockton. I'm thankful that he is no longer in pain and is now in heaven with his mother whom he adored.

I spent time with Jimmy over the years as well as spoke to him on the phone for countless hours about sports, his kids and his father, all of whom he loved very much. Jimmy will be missed!

Jimmy is probably running around heaven with a smile on his face and a football in his hand. Great to think of him, free of the physical constraints he suffered through here on earth. Condolences to Jimmy Jr, and Jennifer.

I worked with Jim at the Montello St. Papa Ginos. He was a hard worker and funny as you know what. Condolences to his family.
