Marion Bairstow Obituary

Marion C. (Smith) Bairstow, of Scituate, 60, passed away peacefully with her husband, Clem, at her side on October 9, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Clement G. Bairstow, with whom she recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Loving sister of Carole L. Smith (Christopher Crosby) of Fairfield, Conn. and Barbara S. Holcomb and her husband Ted of Smyrna Beach, Fla. She is also survived by several cousins and their families. Marion worked for more than 30 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield and was employed as a reporting analyst. She was passionate about boating and fishing, which she often did with her husband on their boat the Glory Days. She loved birds, especially the hummingbirds in her back yard. She had an infectious sense of humor: quick to laugh and eager to partake in any kind of fun. She always had a smile for every one and brought joy to so many peoples lives. Relatives and friends are invited to participate in a celebration of Marions life at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. Her family encourages you to prepare a memory of Marion or favorite story to share with them during this time. In lieu of flowers, Marions f amily would appreciate donations made in her memory to the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Cancer Services, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 due to the outstanding care they provided her during her illness. Fin and I have an empty hole in our hearts that will last for the rest of our lives. Marsh was best "buddy", confidant, joy, happiness, good times, fishing partner, smiles, laughter, dance partner, wedding witness and bride proxy :) - just to mention a few - ALL wrapped into one person. There will never be another like her! She lived life to the fullest. Marsh is an angel on the shoulders of those she loves. We will miss her like no other.

We are here for you, Clem.
Love to you and all of Marsh's family,
Fin & suzy

I worked with Marion at BCBS until I retired in 2009. She always had a smile and friendly conversation to offer. She is one of the nicest people I think I have ever met. RIP Marion. My sympathies to her family. May God grant you the peace that surpasses all understanding at this difficult time.
