Thinking of Matthew today.....

.....a young man who landscaped the grounds where I work (with a grief counselor comforting those who've lost loved ones) for 2 yrs. His pure bright spirit that greeted me each week with a warm smile and an offer to help with whatever needed tended to will never leave me.

I remember the day I asked him to please not join the Army, I said, "it's too dangerous Matt." He just smiled and with a twinkle in his eye, said "don't worry," wanting to reassure me. In his world, all that mattered was that he followed his heart and God's plan for him.

A few months later, he planted a flower for me in memory of my father who had just passed. We spoke about death and both agreed we were not afraid to die. "The gift," I said, "that comes with death... is that you get to feel how much you really love someone." "That relationship continues on forever and that person becomes your very own guardian angel."

Matthew Bean smiled at me again that day and nodded his head as if he knew exactly what I meant.

There is no doubt in my mind that this path was predestined for Matthew. God chose him to be an Angel on Earth for us, a hero and one that we would miss so deeply and never forget.

To all those who love and miss Matthew.... may you know that he will always watch over you as he is now and will forever be your very own guardian angel.

God Bless You Always Matthew and I thank God for your presence in my life for just that brief time!

You left your mark on so many and I have no doubt have opened hearts to the potential of love that God so intended all of us to feel. Thank you for that gift!

Please continue to watch over all of humanity and and with God's assistance.... help bring Peace and renewed healing to this troubled world in which we live today. Amen!

Heather

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Matthew, but I am remembering

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To Matthew and his Family,

I opened to this quote today and it so reminded me of of you:

"Teach him (your child) to live rather than avoid death; life is not breath, but action, the use of our senses, our mind, our faculties, every part of ourselves which makes us conscious of our living. Life consists less in length of days than in the keen sense of living."
~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Thank you for teaching us (by example) to live fully, Matthew!

I just want to say that I saw your dads truck driving through town today and can't express how touched I was to see how much you mean to him. Being a mom of a 7 year old son, as I read the messages posted all over as a tribute to him (I was behind him on rt. 104), tears filled my eyes. I have never met you, but after today am so proud to see what your dad has done for you. His efforts made me, along with others I am sure, stop what we are doing if not for a moment and reflect on what you have done for us and our country. You died for us and we are honored. Matthew I just wanted to say a sincere thank you. In reading other messages on this page, you have truly touched many lives. God bless you always. And please know that we deeply appreciate all that you have sacrificed for us and our freedom. To Matthews dad... thank you for giving me the ability to read your messages and take a moment to reflect, and really appreciate life today. His name will live on.

To the Bean Family,

I am so sorry for the loss of your most precious son, Matthew.

Matt was an absolute Angel! I am so blessed to have known him and will never forget him!

Matt lovingly landscaped the grounds each week where I worked and lived for almost two years. I looked forward to seeing him as he had such a sincere way of sharing his bright light and cheer. He would wave and smile and often come over to chat for a bit before I would leave for work. He had a heart of gold...this was evident through his entire way of being. His smile and spirit will stay with me forever!

THANK YOU for raising such an incredible young man and THANK YOU MATTHEW FOR YOUR COURAGEOUS SERVICE to our country! SO MANY HERE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU BUT WE KNOW YOU ARE NOW AN ANGEL WATCHING OVER US FROM HEAVEN ABOVE!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,

Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry-
I am not there... I did not die...

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To the Bean Family:

I am heart broken to find out about Matthew Bean's passing... I believe our families met at the hospital. My family and I were also at the Naval Hospital where Matthew was. Our loved one (Cpl. Mark Ryan C. Caguioa) passed away May 24, 2007 due to the wounds he suffered on May 4.

We are all in this together, as we mourn our loss, so too do we mourn yours and the other families out there who have lost a family member to this war.

To Matthew, whom I've never had the privilege to meet, may you and your other brothers in arms rest in peace. You all have acted with great honor and courage, and those who knew and loved you will forever remember you...

To the families of Matthew Bean,
First off let me offer my condolences to you and the entire family. When I first met your son when he arrived to the unit, I asked him where he was from, he said Pembroke, MA. I told him that I lived in Needham, MA for 8 years. We talked about MA and instantly "clicked" Although, I didnt deploy with the unit due to medical reasons, I can tell you that your son was a hard worker and determined soldier that had the capabilities of excelling in the ranks of the Army. Your son will be remembered by all!

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. My mother Leola Litchfield is Eddy Ledbetter's step-mother-in-law and she told me of your lose. Both of my children went to heaven at a young age (24 & 37 years old). We may never know why God allowed us to have these precious ones with us for such a short time. Please know that prayers, faith, and time will bring healing from your pain and your memories will remain with you to help you on your journey til you are with Matt again in a better place. With tearful prayers for you and your family,

To the Bean Family,

Who Matthew was, and what he sacrificed for our country will never be forgotten. I will always remember him as a bright eyed kid with great heart. He was a hero in every sense of the word. The sorrow will come and at times be overwhelming, but take heart. He is in heaven with his Grandpa George and is at peace, and one day, we WILL see him again.

I am sorry for you loss. Sgt. Justin D. Wisniewski is my older brother and he was killed the same day as Matthew, I understand that they were good friends in Iraq and for almost a year were basically glued together. I understand your loss, the only thing that is easing it for me is to think of the Hell they are giving everyone up north (as Justin would say). I thank your son for his service. Thoughts and praryers are with you all.
