Benjamin Milne Obituary

MILNE,
Benjamin Ross
December 18, 1934 -
October 7, 2011

Our much loved father, Benjamin Ross Milne went home to our Lord and Savior on October 7, 2011. Dad was born in Bozeman, Montana the second to the youngest of five children to Robert and Gladys Milne. He loved God and lived his life the cowboy way, always a straight shooter. You could go to him for the best advice, given with good common sense and encouraged to do the right thing even when it wasn't the easiest thing to do. He was preceded in death by our mother, Judith A. Milne, his soul mate and sweetheart. Thank you Dad for giving us the wonderful gift of loving our mother the way you did. He is survived by daughters and their spouses: Karey (Milne) and Rick Dillingham, Kathie (Milne) and John Stuchell, Wendy (Milne) and Rod Collins, Debbie (Milne) and Lee Finch. Eight grandchildren; six boys and two girls, two great-grandchildren, nephew: Dave and Mary Blanton and several other nieces and nephews. He served our Country in the U.S. Army. He lived on Mt. Spokane for 44 years before moving to Mead, WA. We will always remember how Dad loved animals. Feeding the squirrels on his porch when he lived on Mt. Spokane, he would call the deer down from the woods to hand them slices of bread off his deck. They trusted him, and many times he was nicknamed "the deer and squirrel whisperer". He worked for 17+ years for Burlington Northern Transport as a truck driver and drove a school bus for Mead School District. We love you Dad and will miss your wonderful strong presence in our lives. As our Dad rides into the sunset, he leaves us all with what his favorite hero John Wayne used to say "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway." A Visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2011 from Noon to 5:00PM at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home 2203 N. Division and Graveside Services will take place Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 1:00P.M. at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either The Lupus Foundation W. 315 Mission Ave. No. 6, Spokane, WA 99201 or The American Cancer Society, 920 N. Washington, Spokane, WA 99201

Uncle Ben, I was so sad to hear that you had to go. I really treasure the stories that you shared with me and Kenny over the years about our mom. I hold them close to my heart and I truly thank you for that. Be with your family in heaven now and I will see you again some day.

Dad, you are surely going to be missed. It will be so hard to want to pick up that phone and give you a call, and then, not be able to. You have always had such a strong presence in all of our lives. You will be missed very much. Have fun with mom and your family until we all get there with you. Love you, Karey
