Bonnie SWARTZ Obituary

SWARTZ, Bonnie Marie (Mackay) (Gilbert)

Bonnie Marie changed addresses on September 6, 2012. She spent her last few days, as she has in the last three years with health issues, with her three kids, Deb, Kim and Brad. Mom was born on July 2nd, 1926. Her Mom and Dad, S.E. (Mac) and Mae Mackay preceded her in death. Mom was raised in, and loved being from Hillyard. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1944. Her dad taught her how to skate, play hockey, shoot her 22 and she was a tough tennis player. She enrolled in Washington State University in 1944 and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She married Roy W. Gilbert in 1950. They had three children. Debra, Kim and Brad.
Mom loved her job as secretary to Spokane County Prosecutor, Don Brocket. She left the Prosecutors' office with Deputy Prosecutor Holland Ford, and worked for him until she retired at age 75. Holland was her best friend. She married Bob Swartz (KZUN Radio) in 1971.They were married until Bob died in 1981.
Mom loved her family and we heard that every day. She was the most grateful, loving Mom. She always said "What would I do without you three kids?" Each of us told her she would never know. She is survived and missed by her daughters, Debra Wilde (Elliot Wilde, Sam Schuster and Max Schuster) Kim Golden (Leigh and Cooper Golden) and her son Brad Gilbert, his wife and devoted daughter in law, Julie (Bailey and Caden.) She also leaves extended family.
The three of us want to especially thank Patty Belote, the caring staff at Brighton Court Assisted Living, including Karen, Olga, Katie and Mariah for loving care, and Dr. Dave Gilman for 30+ years of great medical care and a lot of laughs. And to Dr. Rob Golden, your loving care and concern for Mom was above and beyond. She loved you.
Bonnie was generous, hilarious and loving. The family invites you to a get together for Mom at Max at Mirabeau on Sullivan in the Spokane Valley, Sunday, September 16th at 4pm.

I was friends with Brad in junior high and high school. I enjoyed my time as I got to know the entire family. I will always remember how Bonnie was so kind in welcoming me into their home. She had a great smile and laugh as the whole family had such a great sense of humor. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Bonnie was filled with pure positive energy. She loved so many people, moments. Always good for laughing and experiencing the best of all people and things. She lit up the room and was content with the simple life. You are missed, Bonnie. And, finally, able to negociate your Caddy without Broadway as a reference.
