Colleen HENDERSON Obituary

HENDERSON, Colleen Madonna (Age 85) Born February 27, 1929 in Kenmare, ND passed on October 3, 2014 in Cheney, WA at the Cheney Care Center. Connie was born to Matthew T. and Eva V. Mellon. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mary Queen Parish in Spokane, WA. Connie grew up in Spokane and was a graduate of John R. Rogers High School. She worked at SHMC for 33 years and was the first Pharmaceutical Buyer in Spokane, an accomplishment that she was very proud of. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. Connie has two sisters, Patricia Disciascio (deceased) and Sharon Mata (living), to whom she was very close and loved very much. Connie is survived by two sons, Timothy P. LaBrosse, DDS (Darlene) and Matthew T. Ymer; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Connie also had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all dearly loved by her. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Leo LaBrosse, Ali Ymer and Adelbert Henderson and one brother that passed away as an infant. Her family would like to thank the SHMC ER staff that helped in the final months of her life and also Horizon Hospice (Jennifer Smith, RN) that assisted in the last week of her life. Horizon Hospice was truly a Godsend. They would also like to thank Kirk Rowbotham, MD and Keith Kadel, MD for their compassionate care and expertise in treatment of Connie. She loved these two doctors a lot. The Holy Rosary will be said for Connie at Hennessy Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division Street, Spokane, WA, Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Rose Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Queen Parish, 3423 East Carlisle Avenue, Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Father Hartin will lead the Rosary service and Father Paul Vevik will celebrate the Funeral Mass. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Connie will be buried privately with her mother at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. On October 3, 2014 as the sun set on the horizon, Connie left the bonds of earth and gained eternal freedom in Heaven, we love you and will miss you very much, mom. Matt -

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

Matt, cherish the fond memories that your mother blessed you with and hopefully they will bring a smile to your face and help to ease your heartache. Connie was a beautiful lady and a true Mellon. She will be sorely missed. Prayers to you cousin.

Matthew, Good byes are never easy... I remember when you and her both worked at Sacred Heart you would always meet and have lunch with her. She must of been some kind of special for you to always make sure you were there to have that time in the day with her.. Big hugs my friend. Feel Blessed, Lisa Morgan

See you soon mom

The house is so quiet now without you here momma. I tried and did the best I could, I know I wasn't able to give exactly what you wanted at the end, but your comfort was of the utmost importance to me mom. I know you now are celebrating the thing you loved most in life now, having a big family get together with all your family in Heaven and singing Irish folk songs. I am so glad you are now restored and made new in the presence of Our Lord, I pray that He will always keep you in the palm of His hand and place you with all the other angels in Heaven, I know you were an angel here on earth. I will always love you momma and I will keep missing you, until we meet again. May the peace of Christ be with you now and forever mom.
