Janet MUNRO Obituary

Janet Munro (Piper) passed away peacefully at home April 24, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She was born October 23, 1942 in Seattle, WA to William and Ruth Piper, moving to Spokane with her family in her early life. She attended Stevens elementary and graduated from North Central High School in 1960. After High School Jan began working in banking and bookkeeping. She met her husband Roy Munro at Ernie Majors and they married in January 1966. Jan was actively involved in Girl Scout troops for many years, quickly rising to be a neighborhood leader. She was also a talented seamstress designing and sewing many dance costumes for her daughters and other dancers. She and Roy were active in the Loma Vista PTA serving as Vice Presidents for several years. They also created the first "Bike Rodeo" which is now a yearly safety event at most elementary schools. She was a church volunteer at Shadle Park Presbyterian and an active member in the St. Andrews Scottish Society. She retired from the City of Spokane in 1999.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ruth, her beloved husband Roy and her sisters Carol and Sandra Jean. She is survived by her two daughters and sons in law, Shelley Anderson (Larry) and Nancy Muller (Michael), five grandsons, William Anderson (Katie), Matthew Anderson (Kalicia), Joshua Anderson, Jacob Muller and Lucas Muller, as well as 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nelson Chow, North Division Davita Dialysis, Providence Hospice and Sacred Heart Medical Center for their care and compassion. Janet will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in a private family service.

The photo is (left to right) my sister Valerie, Janet, and Cousin Judy. Janet was in Wenatchee for the Apple Blossom Parade. I remember visits to the Piper
family growing up. They lived in several places including (I believe) Seattle,
Lewiston-Clarkston, and Spokane. Janet always impressed me as a loving and
caring person. I wish her family God's comfort and blessings during this most difficult time. Bill Pratt Jr. (My father Bill Sr. was Janet's uncle)
