Jerry CARLOS Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Carlos/Carlacio family announce the passing of Jerry Eugene Carlos of Spokane, WA on April 22, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital, with his loving "big sister" Judy by his bedside. During his long illness, Judy remained close to him and ensured that he had everything that he needed. She was his rock.

Jerry was born October 16, 1955 in Spokane, WA and is survived by his siblings Judy L. (née Carlos) Carlacio of Spokane; John M. Carlos, Jr., of Burlington, VT; Jami L. (née Carlos) Carlacio of North Haven, CT; and nephew Javier Carlacio-Kurth of North Haven, CT. He also left behind an aunt and numerous cousins and many friends, including his long-time housemate, Ken Booher; his other long-time friend, Rick Martin, both of Spokane; and the Bechtold family in California's Bay Area.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents John M. Carlos and Barbara (née Cobb) Ann Carlos; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jerry marched to the beat of his own drum and lived an interesting life. He moved to Orange County, CA when he was young, where he developed a life-long passion for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and the Los Angeles Rams football team. Later, when he moved back to Spokane, he added the Seattle Mariners baseball team to his list of favorites. He himself played softball, a game at which he excelled; golf (at which he didn't); and chess, proudly beating the best of the best. When he was 35, he decided it was time to be a daredevil, jumping out of a plane in Reno, NV.

After graduating from West Valley High School, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Subsequent to this, he took advantage of the GI bill to attend Spokane Community College, where he became certified to drive 18-wheelers long-haul. He was proud of the fact that, in his own words, he ""drove more than one million miles through 28 states without an accident and only a few tickets."" Deciding he wanted to be home at the end of the day, he turned to short-haul and then finally to warehouse work.

Jerry retired young and spent much of his time watching his favorite television shows, including the Westerns ""Gunsmoke"" and ""Bonanza"" and comedies ""Leave it to Beaver"" and ""Gilligan's Island."" His favorite program was the gameshow ""The Price is Right,"" boasting that he could guess the prices of nearly every item correctly.

Jerry will be greatly missed. His family remembers his love of all sports, dogs, lottery tickets, Budweiser beer, strawberry-flavored milk, and a good steak dinner.

The family is respecting Jerry's wish not to have a funeral service. His ashes will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery in Spokane Valley, WA. Donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
