Jim JOHNSON Obituary

"And I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand." John 10:28

Our beloved husband, father, papa, son, brother, and friend, Jim Johnson, is now in the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ following his unexpected death on March 31, 2025. His joy is complete though our loss is painful.

Jim was born December 28, 1960, to Dennis and Wilma Johnson in Spokane, Washington. He attended Shadle Park High School, followed by serving in the Navy and 28 years in the Washington Air National Guard 141st ARW, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. His career involved traveling all over the world and serving in both combat and peacetime capacities. Jim later worked at Providence Hospital.

Jim enjoyed family time. He loved summers at Deer Lake and Lake Roosevelt, where he enjoyed the sport of fishing and patiently endured the anti-sport of 'untangling' (fishing with young children). Jim also enjoyed grilling, hunting, kayaking, RV camping, skiing, and traveling. Jim excelled at anything mechanical. He could fix ANYTHING and was blessed with a family that could break EVERYTHING.

Jim's wife, five children, and his granddaughter were his greatest joys. He continually prayed for each one, was proud of their accomplishments, and enjoyed their unique personalities. He loved his mom and his sisters deeply and missed his dad. He loved his extended Long Family relatives, where he traded gibes and jokes with relish and reciprocity!

God's Word was Jim's comfort and his tutor. He cherished its promises of God's love and evidence of God's goodness. His faith grew exponentially in recent years as he participated in Chattaroy Church Awana, Be1 Make1, and the Calvary Spokane Men's Bible Study.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dennis; and is survived by his wife, Lisa; and children, Bekkah and granddaughter, Paislee, Theia aka Beth, Lainy, Zeph, and Zac (Bethany); by his mother, Wilma; and sisters, Jean, Judy (Dave), Joan (Greg), and Jill. Jim left behind numerous nieces and nephews, many Christian brothers (who meant the world to him), and innumerable friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to savedbygracedave.com. All who knew Jim are invited to a Celebration of Life Service and reception on Monday, April 21, 2pm, at Calvary Spokane, 511 W. Hastings Road.

I was fairly new to Calvary Spokane when I first met Jim at the men´s Bible study on Tuesday night and now I feel guilty for not having to keep going back and for being so distant he always sat at my table very opinionated about the Bible and I was learning so much from him and yet I left And didn´t get to say goodbye. Something that I have to live with.

Jim helped us learn fishing at Eloika Lake. Was a friend in our church. Cared for our kids when we had to leave suddenly for a funeral. Always kind and caring to our family. I know he will be missed.
