He was my favorite doctor! He delivered my last and final child on this date in 1967, A 10# little girl who turned 50 today. I just happened to think of him today, her birthday, and discovered this obit. He is a loss to so many people, and much appreciated and loved by many of us. Helen Holt, Lakewood WA,

I first met Dr. Moyer when I was an intern at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1972. I ended up going into OB/GYN. Dr Moyer was a mentor my entire career. He also was a role model for me and many others on how to live a wonderful full life, respecting and helping all I come in contact with. He will be missed by many patients and friends.

John was so good to my husband. We met at the therapy pool at the central YMCA My husband, Jim had Dementia and it took his speech. John would playfully talk to him in Jim's Jabber speech as if there was nothing wrong with him. He was such a wonderful man. We missed him very much when he no longer came to the Y. He touched so many lives.

Dearest Joanne,
Dr. Moyer was like a father to me! I learned so much from you both and loved working at Gynob Northwest. He was so good to us and loved teaching his staff to be great care givers for our large practice. The patient needs always came first! Please know that my prayers are with you. He is flying with the angels and in the arms of our Savior. Judy (Sorenson) Coonrod

John was such a blessing in our small group from HPPC. He was so full of the Holy Spirit. Always had a smile and kind words to say. I really enjoyed our Bible studies, our prayers, and our personal conversations. John showed grace to everyone. I am proud to say that I knew and admired John. God bless you Joanne during this very sad time. May the peace of Christ be with you and comfort you.

My sympathy to Joanne and all the Moyer clan on the loss of John. He had just "retired" from Group Health and was my "boss" in 1985 when we received a federal grant to start the Eastern WA Area Health Education Center in Spokane. We had a great time bombing through the countryside in his little red sports car as we visited many of the rural hospitals and physicians! When he was in the state Senate, he was instrumental along with Jim West and others, to pass and implement several pieces of legislation that helped rural hospitals and clinics survive - legislation that still serves WA today, 25+years later. Many thanks to this wonderful man who, to my own knowledge, was so selfless and giving to others. John was always a gentleman with a great sense of humor - God bless!!

Joanne & family--So sorry for your loss. Dr. Moyer was a wonderful dr. & man. He was my main Dr. for all 4 pregnancies. He only delivered my last 2. They were "C" section. So I thank God that he was there! I was only 19 when I met him. Never had been to the Dr. before. He & Joanne made me feel so comfortable. Stayed with him until he left the practice! Rest in Peace Dr. Moyer! Loved both of you so much!

As one of John's primary caregivers I have so many memories from 7 years of care. John had a certain way of shaving. As he advanced in his disease, he taught me how it worked for him and he still had his sense of humor. He loved ice cream and he like to have his fruit covered with whipped cream. I quick wit and his surprising " Boo's" just made me laugh. It is has been such an honor and privilege to care for such a wonderful man and to count him as my friend

My parents honeymooned with your parents (Bob and Marion Martin) at Turkey Run State Park in late 1946 and remained Christmas card friends until your mother's passing. Both my parents are still with us luckily. Our Dad's birthdays are 2 weeks apart in 1922. I was able to use your Dad as a reference when I interviewed here at Spokane Community College in 1994 and am still teaching there. The memories of watching your large family and our large family grow is still with me. I will never forget us visiting your home in the late 60's and swimming in Coeur d'Alene off a boat built by your Dad.

My husband and I were young, overwhelmed, and expecting twins. Dr. Moyer knew we were strapped for money and offered to deliver the babies "two for the price of one".
He explained that, as a father of ten, he understood what we were going through!
We were so grateful for his kindness toward us.
Now that we are older, and the proud parents of ten children ourselves, we remember Dr. Moyer's generous example. With him in mind, we pass on that kindness as often as we can.
Thank you, Dr. Moyer!

A wonderful Dr. and human being. He delivered my son (high risk). So personable and funny, even in the delivery room. There was 'A Positive, Happy Energy' as he was born (perfect) 8/24/1975. Great day, great memory. I admired Dr. Moyer's faith and confidence. He always made me feel important and at ease. He was the best OB/GYN in Spokane. I knew I was getting the best care available and he really did care. Rest In Peace Dr. Moyer.

The world has lost a great man who touched and impacted many. I will remember 'Doc' with his smile, a little joke, and a strong and guiding hand when needed.
Dear Moyers, I am so saddened by the news of 'Doc's' passing and my sincere sympathies go out to each of you.
The time I spent with all of you are some of my best memories; nothing compares to those Sunday brunches or dinners with everyone there!
Peg, I think of you often and hope you are well.
My thoughts, prayers, and deep condolences go out to each of you.
Love to you ~

I have carried your kindness in my heart all these years, Dr. Moyer. God had other plans for me, not babies. My heartbreak was overwhelming, but my life has been full, just like you said it would. The world has been such a better place with you in it. Thank you and God bless you.
