John Patrick O'REILLY Jr.

John Patrick O'Reilly, Jr., age 73, beloved brother, passed away April 12, 2025, in Spokane Valley, WA. John is survived by his grieving siblings, Dot O'Reilly, Tim O'Reilly (Karen), Mike O'Reilly (Melodie), Matt O'Reilly (Julie), Kevin O'Reilly (Colleen), Kathleen Hamrick (Mike) and Steven O'Reilly (Nicolle); nieces and nephews, Dan, Ellen, Audrey, Jamys, Brendan, Jennifer, Justin, Kelly, Zach, 13 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

Born in Spokane on March 8, 1952, John led the O'Reilly brood as they roamed around a northside neighborhood getting into plenty of mischief; how the fire started in a vacant lot across the street from their house remains unsolved to this day. John graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1970. While in high school, he began working at Egger's Meats where he became a journeyman butcher. He worked there and at other butcher shops for many years.

In 1980, John started working at the White Elephant in the Spokane Valley. If you ever walked into the store, you probably saw John's smiling face behind the counter or assisting customers in the sporting goods aisles. John and his best friend Rich enjoyed their Collies, relaxing by the pool and racing their slot car collection. He loved classic cars, especially his 1967 Corvette. In recent years, John became close to his nephew, Zach, his wife, Rachel, and their son, Zane, spending time together by the pool and barbecuing.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) O'Reilly and Dorothy (Dottie) O'Reilly; and his best friend, Rich Fried. Memorial service arrangements are pending and will be posted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to the SpokAnimal or shelter of your choice.
