Karen DENNING Obituary

Karen L. Denning (nee Peuck), 75, passed away quite peacefully with her youngest daughter at her side, June 24th, after living several years with Pick's disease, a form of dementia. She is missed by her three children and their families, her sister and family, extended family, biological family who found her a decade ago, and many many friends. Karen was born and raised in Spokane, WA, and moved to Southern CA in 1975. She later moved to San Diego, and then to Colorado near family in 2022, to get excellent health care for her condition.

Karen worked as a police dispatcher for over 25 years, starting in the South Bay/Beach Cities of Southern California, then worked for SDPD until retirement. She loved the job and everyone she worked with, despite the stress, challenges, and shift changes. After retirement, she worked for SD Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol. She was first out of the truck on every call, and she really liked to direct traffic. Karen loved to travel. Whether it was a cruise to Alaska or Mexico, a flight to Europe, an RV trip to the Grand Canyon, camping, or a local day trip, it was an adventure. She was a good Mom. Even when we didn't have much, or schedules were a challenge, she was there for us, fully supporting our activities and lives.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park, her favorite places. Many thanks to Melody Living in Colorado Springs for taking outstanding care of her. A memorial in the form of an Irish Wake is being planned. She loved you all as much as you loved her.
