Michael POWERS Obituary

August 19, 2023

Our beloved husband, dad, poppa, and brother passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning August 19, 2023.

Michael Jay Powers was born to Jay and Betty Powers on October 9, 1953, in Spokane, WA. He grew up in the West Valley School District where he met his wife Patti Powers.

Mike's first job was at Tidymans. He then went on to work in the family sheet metal business, Powers Inc. until the business closed in 1994. After that Mike worked for the East Valley School District as a custodian for 25 years until he retired in 2018.

Mike and Patti had two girls, Michele and Amie, who blessed them with three grandchildren, Carissa, Gabrielle and Teagen. Some of Mike's hobbies were cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching car races, fishing and camping. Mike loved being at home with his family and his fur baby Max. Mike will be missed for his quiet, gentle nature.

Mike is survived by his wife Patti, daughters Michele Powers and Amie Powers, grandchildren Carissa and Nick Cantrell, Gabrielle Smith, Teagen Page, sister Linda Powers and nephew Kris and wife Kelli.

A memorial service will be held October 14th at 10:00a.m. at Millwood Presbyterian Church.

I´m sorry to hear about Mike. Mike was the best man at my wedding in 1976 to Craig Nelson. Mike and Craig went to school together. I have many happy memories of our couples times together. Mike was so much fun to be with. My sympathies to Patti and his family.

A Tribute To The Best Friend A Person Could Ever Ask For Gone, But Never Forgotten!
Mike was my best friend from kindergarten to his passing and believe me that I will never forget this special friend of a lifetime. He was a true person and loving and caring person to his Mother and Father and Sister. As he was that same person to his wife and daughters and grandchildren.
Me speaking, he was my best friend for 64 years and he showed me the same traits as a true and caring person. As we all know, when you enter the world to start your own family sometimes everyday life cuts short the time that we have for our relatives and friends, But Mike and I spoke and saw each other after graduating from high school, but now I realize not enough. If I could say anything that might plant a seed it is to look at your everyday life and make it a point to come up with time to visit family and friends more. Miss that football game, forget yardwork for a weekend, planning a trip invite family or friends......make the time and make the most of it. Because I know at my age the time is narrowing down every year for that chance.
Mike, I know since your passing there has not been a day that has gone by without thinking of you and your family.
