Nancy MARYOTT-CAPAUL Obituary

MARYOTT-CAPAUL, Nancy (Age 67) Nancy was born in Colfax, WA on November 10, 1947. She graduated from Central Valley High School, raised three children, was an Army wife, and returned to the Spokane/Couer d'Alene area when her husband retired. She worked as a paralegal for the U.S. Attorney's Office and then for private law firms. She always wanted to graduate from college, and took courses over many years. On June 13, 2014 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Magna Cum Laude, from Eastern Washington University. Nancy passed away following heart transplant surgery on Monday, January 26, 2015. She fought heart disease for many years and underwent several surgeries. She lived for the past three and a half years with an LVAD (heart pump). She spent eight months undergoing an experimental medical protocol to increase her chances for a successful transplant. Although her results were not what she and the doctors had hoped, she finished the protocol so that the data gathered would help guide future research and better the lives of others. Through it all Nancy remained cheerful and positive, maintaining the hope that she would receive a transplant. On January 24, a heart was found for her. Aware of the risks involved, she chose to have the surgery. We all hope the information gained from her experiences can improve medical treatment for others and save lives. She leaves behind her husband of 46 years Lewis Capaul; sons Tom Capaul (Jennifer), Jason Capaul, and Cameron Traxinger; sister Jamie Maryott; brothers Dana Maryott and Glenn Maryott; grandchildren Alexandria, Karyn, and Jordan, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss her dearly. Nancy's doctor called her a "Warrior Princess." Her battle here is done, but she lives on in our hearts.

Nancy was my dear, dear friend and I miss her dreadfully. I wish I had written down all the stories she shared with me. True to her Scot heritage, she knew how to spin a yarn. Rest easy Nancy.

Dear Cousin Nancy was such an inspiration to all lives she touched. Such a fighter on one hand, but so caring on the other. A soft spoken woman, but one who spoke her mind on causes she believed in. She will be missed.
