Orlando RESSA Obituary

RESSA, Orlando (Age 89) Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 17, 2014 from brain cancer. He was born March 16, 1924 in Spokane, WA, to Frank and Theresa Ressa. He graduated from North Central and was a life time member of Spokane. During WWII he served his country. He retired from Kaman Bearings with over 30 years of service as a machinist. As a young man he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. In 1967 he married Gloria Dalessio and they raised two children. Orlando was a devout catholic. As an active member of St. Thomas More Church and school, he attended daily Mass, participated in perpetual adoration for twenty-five years, and was actively involved in fundraising for the school. Orlando was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; four of his brothers: Bert, John, Nick, and Frank Ressa and his sister Mary Louise Didier. He is survived by his brother, James (Nancy); his son Robert; his daughter, Mary (Thomas); his grandchildren: Joel, Lydia and Ben and numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever remember him as "The Warden". Special thanks to Hospice of Spokane and to Ken for their amazing care and compassion for our father. A Rosary will be held Thursday, January 23rd at 7 pm, at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 24th at 10 am at St. Thomas More Parish, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way. Interment will follow Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Church or School or the Gloria Ressa Scholarship Fund. Mary, Rob and Family:

May the Lord bless Orlando with his peace and love. I hold a special place for him in my heart for the years when every morning he joined in Morning Prayer in the Church with George Vasil, Doc Elston and the others who came. It must have gone on for almost ten years.... He knew the Lord and his prayer was blessed.

I cannot come to his funeral. I am in Bangkok tonight. But he is in my prayers. May the Lord give you peace.

Having been a 25-year employee at Bitco/Kaman myself, I shared the workplace many years with your Dad. Such a nice, kind soul he had, just a pleasure to have known. He will always be there for you in your heart and your memories.
