John Gregor Sr.

JOHN GREGOR, SR. died peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Tuesday, August 2nd. He was predeceased by Margaret, his wife of fifty-five years. He was the son of the late Andrew Gregor and Judith Kurhajec Gregor who came to the United States from Czechoslovakia. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Brennan and her husband John, of Stamford, and his son, John Gregor, Jr., and his wife Jo Ann, of Trumbull. He has four grandchildren; Sharon Longo of Darien, Deborah Stowell of Middlebury, John Gregor III and Michael Gregor, both of Trumbull, and three great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Sarah and Christopher. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Chernek.

Mr. Gregor was predeceased by 1 brother Andrew Gregor and 4 sisters, Julia Urban, Helen Dempsey, Irene Baron, and Anna Bliska.

He served his country as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. He was stationed in Texas during World War II, and took great pride in keeping everything mechanical running smoothly.

John retired from the Stamford Rolling Mills and Pitney Bowes. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active parishioner of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, serving as an usher for many, many years. He was also a member of Sokol's Athletic Club in Greenwich, CT.

Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, August 3rd from 5-9 PM.

The funeral service, with Pastor Jack Breznen officiating, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 265 Seaside Avenue in Stamford on Thursday August 4, 2005 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT.
